I've owned various boats most of my adult life - mostly fiberglass bass / walleye / fish & ski types. After going through a divorce in 2005, I went out and bought the one I'd really wanted for a number of years (I justified it by convincing myself I was going through a midlife crisis ). Now that I'm remarried, the wife is telling me we need a more 'family friendly' boat but my grandsons would disown me if I bought anything else.
Now THAT will tote the mail..............
Was a passenger in one that had a 300 ProMax. 102 mph on the Garmin GPS....
To anger a conservative, lie to him. To annoy a liberal, tell him the truth.
I have a question for the kayak fishing guys. How does a kayak like this handle rapids? The river I fish on has quite a few rocky areas with rapids. Do these kayaks get hung up on rocks and want to tip over? They all seem to have what I call tri hulls that would seem to snag up in the rapids.

Makes perfect sense if you're a tournament guy fishing under high pressure time limits and attempting to cover all the water you can within allowed time frames. Otherwise, why?
You gotta be on your toes when it comes to fast water and rocks, the configuration of the hulls are designed for optimum tracking, get a little off center in the rapids and you are gonna spin sideways and get pushed over. White water yaks are designed completely different.
I was told "make an offer" on one of these the other week. 7hp Evinrude two-stroke if I remember right.
Seems like a good canal boat.
Read up on them they have a Patented hull , Harley Gheen invented them just up the road from you - Harley is a rocket scientist at NASA . With a family you'd likely want an LT25 that a 16' boat rated for 25 hp , but many will tell you they can handle far bigger engines . Seen 50 hp motors on that model although a 7 hp will push the LT25 fine . A guy tested his LT25 - 16' with a 2.5hp & 6hp yamahas - I have both those motors - his longer boat went faster bya couple of MPH than my 13' due too the added length . My boat 120lbs. his boat 220lbs. There's also a Gheenoe forum , and many big get-togethers in your area of operations . Some great deals on the for sale sub forum . Some guys were [or did] plan on taking Noe's to the Bahamas - very seaworthy - but that souded a bit much to me. I've had mine several miles out in the gulf . Been going along in the bay standing up when a huge 50' yacht passes they all stare and expect me to hunker down , I don't even take the waves head on - just ride right over them with nary a thought . As I said earlier - I can sit on the side rub-rail lift feet/legs out of water it won't turn over - I could probably rock it hard enough to get water inside a few times then sink it . Bought new 2010 $1325 , trailer used $240 .. I'd never sell mine .

We lined around the tough stuff on that run. That was Birch Creek, about 75 miles before it dumps into the Yukon river in NE AK just south of the Arctic Circle. From where we'd put it, it was 125 miles to the nearest place to take out, no choice but to run what it threw at ya.
