Conrad Burns was the sitting senator at that time and that is s hard battle to fight win when you are the challenger. Conrad had called Arabs “Ragheads” and had criticized firefighters for not attacking the fires near Springdale and that didn’t help his campaign. I don’t think it matters but liberals did.
Then the day of the election, Democrats all over the state were getting unregistered voters registered and leaning heavily on them for the liberal cause. In Bozeman, they were passing out free water bottles with Tester labels on them. They were run off the grounds at the courthouse for campaigning too close to a polling place during the process of voting.
It was too much for the Burns campaign and Tester won. You laugh at dead people voting, but it can happen in Butte, add political correctness and you have the formula for an overthrow of a senate seat...

Senator Tester told Joe Scarborough that best way for Democrats to defeat President Trump in 2020 is to “punch him in the face.”
“I don’t think, even in states where Donald Trump won big, that it did you any good running away from Donald Trump,” he said. “I think you need to go back and punch him in the face. The truth is this guy is bad for this country.”

They punched him in the face with everything they had, from collusion, to racism, to bigotry, to obstruction of justice, to campaign finance violations, to past business dealing with Russia, to spying on him, to illegal FISA warrants, to attempted assassinations, to trying to tie him to Epstein and the list goes on and on.
If Testicles is figuratively talking about taking the gloves off and "punching Trump in the face", what does he have in mind.
