but this article makes it sound like he got run over in the #MeToo movement I would defer to anyone who has attended an USO show to cofirm they get a bit burlesque and if you read the whole article, this woman really had a distorted view of it https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2019/07/29/the-case-of-al-franken Reads like he didn't do anything that Bob Hope wouldn't have done.

Franken was a sacrificial lamb used in an attempt to force Trump out of office. It had nothing to do with his actions which seemed sophomoric at their worst. Franken was chosen as he did not seem to have the popular support he once had and throwing them under the bus would not cause a loss of a seat in Congress as the governor would pick another Democrat to replace him. That person would then hold a strong position for election to office in the special election. It was an attempt to further discredit Trump and had nothing to do with any set of ethics or morals on the part of the Democrat party. It was also a warning to other Democrats that no one was safe and they could be next if they did not toe the line as demanded.
I actually knew Al many years ago. He was a jerk then and I never heard that he changed. Even so, what was done to him was shameful. It was a wonderful act of karma but shameful none the less.

I don't agree with his politics of course
but this could (and did I guess) happen to a Republican just as easy
the issue here is internet social justice warriors creating a [bleep] storm that the media picks up and runs with. As far as I know - Franken wasn't a thief, he wasn't corrupt , he wasn't a pedophile- his ideology was different than mine, but he won an election where enough people wanted him to represent them, and we all should be wary of an environment where due process is ignored in order to appease a bunch of screaming narcissists

Al Franken is from the same town that recently was trying to ban the Pledge of Allegiance at all town council meetings..
