Sweet looking rig. I like the way the barrel shank is trimmed.

Awesome rifle redneck. I will use this rifle for stalking thicker timber elk, mountain mule deer, bear, and possibly moose if i ever get a tag. Im really thinking 21 inch or possibly 22 inch barrel. 7lb to 7.5lbs is ideal. I would like to use 140 accubonds or ttsx is the bullet im planning on using. Thank you guys for all the information. I will post back when i decide which direction im going.

Fieldcraft, rail, Horns, SHV. Should get you close on weight and budget, and no waiting.

I went with LWs on my 6mm for the betterr cheek weld and action access, but have the rail on hand just in case.

One thing I like about a 700 long action is that the magazine length is sufficient to allow bullets to be seated out to the lands making the 280 a better choice in some ways. A 7.5lb rifle is easy with a long action.

A short action magazine does not always give the same latitude.

Why’d you get rid of them?

#2 Lilja, shank's just 7/8" IIRC (already boxed up for shipment or I'd measure it for certain - since I can't remember wth I did ten mns ago.. .. smile )

Just sent my parts off to Accurate Ordnance for another 7mm-08 build. Frank I to suffer from rifle ADD. smile Here is my parts list.

Lone Peak Razor s/a Nitrided.
McMillan classic edge swirly black/grey.
Bartlein 2b 9 twist finish 22"
Triggertech special.
Hawkins Precision bdl bottom metal.
Wyatt mag box and follower.
Not sure on weight, my guess would be around 6.5 lbs
Should have this back in 3-4 weeks.
