To those who've never had a chance to meet Tom, he's about as good as they come. Can't think of anyone besides my dad that I'd rather share a campfire with.

That's it...fall is on the way. It's a way off but it's coming. I have been dropping my son (and his bike) off at the high school for 2-a-day football practice. On the way yesterday morning, I saw a popple with a hint of yellow. Some of the underbrush is as well. And lets not fail to mention my allergies are going in OT. laugh

After the winter we had and the cold rainy start to the "summer", I'm not ready for it yet. A LONG fall would be great though!

Tom-I went out to Petersen's place-where we went hunting by Lakeville that time. Saw probably the biggest buck I've ever seen, but it's a little exaggerated 'cause they're in velvet. I believe he's a 10 pointer. Tall rack, huge spread. He gave me permission to hunt a different section out there. Gonna hit it hard in archery season and ML.

All this talk of fall has to wait until our Youth Outdoor Activity Day is over! Sunday, August 25th, 10-4, Alexandria MN Shooting Park. We will give every kid a tee shirt, everyone lunch and ice cream and give away about 5,000 pieces of sporting equipment like binoculars, BB guns, Bows and arrows, butterfly nets, bike helmets, fishing rods and reels, etc. One of our rules is there is now way for any attendee to spend a dollar. We do not even accept donations that day. We will have over 40 activities for kids to do including trap shooting, archery, muzzleloader shooting, crossbow shooting, BB guns shooting, bowfishing, bird feeder building, mountain biking, rock climbing, ATV rides, actually handling fish, salamanders, frogs, turtles, etc, fire building, and much more.

Let me know if you want any more details, but if you are anywhere close, I promise you it is worth the trip!

For those of us within driving distance, plan on making a trip to Alexandria for this event. Dean's a class act, great organizer, and devoted supporter of all things outdoor related. I've volunteered several times at this event, and it's very gratifying to see the kids immersed in all the activities going on there. Seriously guys, grab your kids, the neighbors kids, your inlaw's kids-just grab some kids and take them to this outstanding event. Wish I was working with you again this year Dean!

Heck Jeff, jump in the car and come on up! We can have you give out tee shirts or something!

I'm gonna be in Indiana visiting my new grandson, or I'd be there for sure Dean. My daughter in law's due today, and if she hasn't had the baby by Monday, they're going to induce. We're going down Thursday. The little guy's not even here yet and I'm all ready looking for a 99 for him.

Thanks Tom. I'll be hanging on the phone this weekend waiting for the call. This will be my last weekend to work at Walmart.

Oh yeah-I hid about a half dozen of them in the ladies fitting rooms. Made sure I told everyone we didn't have any. The other ones I bought back on the loading dock the day the prices went down.........
