It has been a lot of years since I have seen one that nice for that few dollars, when considering the scope value you really did well. I always liked the 541T better than the 541S, IMO the 541S was a little overdone with the scrollwork.
Congrats

Nice score, Ed.
I "stole" one like you did about five years ago. It was unfired. Feed it Norma TAC/Match, SK Pistol Match or UM822 and it ought not disappoint!

Heading out to shoot it in two days. What Remington once was I suppose... My boy's were happy. I'll fly it back to Texas with my Win M77 I picked up here earlier this summer.

You thief!!! Those babies shoot - and shoot very well... Stoked with Eley ammo and watch the holes meet... Wonderful trigger (can't believe I'm sayin' that.. ) that can be adjusted down to very small weights.. Mine breaks at 4 oz.. Congrats on the purchase.... You did well.

EdM: Great find there - like others have touched on YOU stole that Rifle/scope combination! Good for you. My heavy barrel Remington 541-T has a Weaver KT-15 (straight 15 power) scope on it and it shoots like a house on fire! Be sure to let us know how it shoots. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

That’s a really good deal. I love my 541-S and have thought about a 541-T many times but couldn’t justify both.

I have to agree with the others. Around here that combo would be $600.00 to 650.00, minimum.
Great buy.

Please let us know how it shoots. Particularly if it has the cold bore first shot flyer. I just bought a Heavy Barrel one yesterday. My 541-S had the "flyer" have seen several others do this as well. There are some good deals out there, one has to be patient.

At $400, that is an absolute STEAL without any optics or mounts at all. Wish I still had mine.

Congratulations Ed, those are wonderful rifles, my 541T wears a Burris 3-9x32 Compact scope. They are pretty accurate rifles.

You really did steal that thing. And it looks to be in nearly mint condition. I have a 541T and a 541S. Love them both but I always seem to take out the T when I go out busting jackrabbits. Both are deadly accurate with just about anything but Eley HP’s knock them down like lighting bolts. Great find. To say you did well would be a serious understatement...

Yep, you "stole" that one right out from under the rest of us. Congratulations!
Now the only way to make it right is to post a range report, shot with a variety of ammo and include lots of pictures....

Now find an extra magazine for it.
Great rifles, with a really junk magazine.

Great rifles, with a really junk magazine. I hear that a lot, yet my 1967 581 ran fine for decades with its only one. It eventually started to balk a bit, so I when I bumped into a new one in my LGS, I bought it, $10 IIRC. I think the old one is probably gummed up with bullet lube from the thousands of rounds it's fed.
What fresh Hell is this?

I bought two magazines from this outfit. Extremely well made. I returned from shooting it a couple hours ago. I mounted one of the Weaver 2.5-7X Rimfires that Natchez has on sale on it. It shot great but I do need to work on the trigger. https://www.trekkermfg.com/
