I picked up a Golden Eagle 7000 in 300 Win. Mag and was wondering if any of you had any experience with these guns. How is the accuracy? Any problems? Thanks - Denny

They are a smooth action. One of my friends had one in 7 rem mag about 20 years ago and it seemed to shoot factory ammo accurately. Later he had a Weatherby Mark V and he said it was not as accurate. But to be fair I doubt if either had been bedded. If accuracy is a problem, I would bed it before giving up on it.

A friend has owned a 25-06 for 30 years or so, shoots fine. If I remember correclty the lugs are toward the rear of the bolt, which might not be the best thing if you handload. They are pretty much few and far between and seem to hold their value reasonably well.

I had one in 300 Win Mag for a while. It was accurate enough, nothing real impressive, but average. It was heavy as sin with a lightweight barrel. I never did get the trigger where I wanted it, though.
They do seem to hold their value pretty well, but I just could not warm up to the rifle. It didn't fit me very well and I thought it was heavier and bulkier than it needed to be. For bolt guns, I've always liked the locking lugs up front, too.
If the rifle fits you and the trigger is fine, I'm sure it will be accurate. I have never heard of accuracy problems from the GE rifles. Take your time when shooting it, the barrel does heat up fast.
An honest man's pillow, is his peace of mind... JM
