My 18” Fieldcraft has shot real well at 300 yards. I wanted to confirm my real world drops at 600 before my Mule deer season opened. I got about two hours free today, so I hit a local range. After some quick math concerning velocity and sight over bore. I gave 10 MOA holdover a try in the MOA reticle with a 200 yard zero ( Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44/Impact 29 MOA reticle).

Fired the first 3 shot group at 600 yards, holding 10 MOA vertical and 2 MOA left for the wind call, group came in at 3” slightly low and left. Wind wasn’t consistent.

Held the same wind call (2 MOA left) for the second group and held 11 MOA vertical. Group came in at 3” inches again! I believe that’s about MOA of Muley heart ❤️ 👍. This Fieldcraft flat shoots. Can’t ask for more than half MOA from a factory rifle and factory ammo at 600 yards.

Considering I was shooting off a bipod with a rear bag.

Great groups! Interesting how the long distance at your range has you shooting right over the top of that white gate....

As usual the tracking on the VX5 is CRAP 💩!!! The accuracy of the turrets on this scope SUCKS!

I was gonna say, stick a scope on it without known issues and then see how it shoots. Might tighten up a bit for you.

For shooting at distance. I will hold in the reticle (MOA/Horus) way before I will spin a turret.

Great shooting and good advertisement! Can't beat that for all stock.
I bet that small orange dot is hard to see at that distance.

Send it back and you will come to find it’s just fine. 😬
I fixed all my MK4 Leupolds by replacing them with Nightforces. lol. Wish I would have saved myself the time and money and went NF at the start.

Nothing like having a scope with turrets and being afraid to touch them. Just touch what windage turret and then all hell really breaks loose. Of course some here will celebrate such products.

Out of five VX-5HD’s I have only had one that was consistent and repeatable. At the minimum the first round was always out after a elevation turret adjustment. On the overage of 4” at 300 and as much as14” at 600. Leupold need to get their chit together.

I have kicked around the idea of picking up a SWFA 3-15x42 with the MOA reticle.

SMACK, if that's a standard 1" orange sticker those groups look quite a bit better than 3" .... more like 2".

My 22” threaded #2 Fieldcraft in 6.5 manbun is a 1/2 MOA rifle with factory loads, which is just a smidgen better than the 21” featherlight Fieldcraft that it replaced. Once you have a Silencerco Omega on the end of the barrel it’s like shooting a 223.

This rifle is on fire 🔥!!!

I took some friends bow hunting Mule deer 🦌 yesterday. Had the rifle in the bed of the truck in a soft case. Bounced all over the back country. I’m talking bounce your head off the head liner stuff a couple times. I was out and about today. Stopped at one of the local ranges just to check my zero.

Fired 3 real quick at the 200 yard line. Right at 3/4’s of a inch with factory Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr ELD-X.

I haven’t liked a factory rifle this much in a looooong time and I own a bunch.👍

Not a bad average from a factory rifle and factory ammo @ 200 yards.

Average for 4 random groups .949

Tried some ammo I had never tried before and I was quite surprised. This ammo is $10.00 a box, my cost.

S&B 140gr SP

First three shots at 300 yards with it. Super close to the same point of impact as the factory Hornady 143gr ELD-X load.

Nice shooting.

Man I just love the new factory Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr ELD-X ammo. It shoots so damn good in all my rifles. The 178gr version also shoots lights out in my 308's. The performance on game has been outstanding. This ammo has made me all but stop reloading.
