I bought a stripped receiver from Brownells and want to build a rifle, including a non-factory stock. Does anyone have sources for aftermarket stocks for the 10/22?

I've been looking at those receivers, myself. They look pretty nice. Did you buy the standard receiver or the take-down version?

Either way, Brownells has a pretty good selection of 10/22 stocks, and they run a "10% off with free shipping" promo code fairly regularly.

I have Hogue stocks on a couple of my rifles, but I recently picked up a Magpul X22 stock. Maybe just because it's new, but I think I like the X22 stock even better than the Hogue. I'm probably going to pick up the Magpul back-packer stock for my take down model, as well.

For a knock-about rig I've been happy with the Hogue stock on mine.

Dan, I bought the standard receiver with the built in pic rail. Also has a cleaning hole in the back for cleaning rod.

I've used Hogue stocks before and like them, although they can be heavy. I'll want to check out the Magpul & Victor Titan.

Thanks, all.

Just bought one of these and like it more than the Titan stock...

No personal experience but looking at the spec's and reading what others have had to say...The Victor 'Titan' is pretty heavy, but on the good side it is quite rigid.

I like the Magpul X22. Like it better than the Hogue. Not a bench rest stock. The available adjustments on the Magpul are nice.

Those Stocky’s Stocks in sporter style are nice. Some of those had some well above average figure in the grain.

I like that stock. Will it accommodate big barrels?

I thought it was but wanted to confirm. Thanks.
Is the Kidd barrel the one you would recommend?

I would, based on other more experienced peoples’ reviews. Mine is the stainless, 16.5” fluted barrel. Balances beautifully and not too muzzle heavy.

The Titan is a decent stock, if you like a vertical grip.
Bench I like it. Field I hate it.
Usable if I don't wrap my thumb over the stock.
Am too grouchy to change.

Dropped an '85 action in mine. No lug. the set screw in the rib took the rock out.
Does .4 at 50 yards w SK match (5 shots).
GM 19" HT and a Volq hammer.

Nothing special but good enough IMHO.

Maybe not what you're looking for but my favorite 10/22, out of 19, has the following configuration:

Ruger factory specs receiver and bolt
Ruger BX trigger
Ruger American-style Copper Mica color modular stock
Green Mountain 24" stainless fluted sporter barrel

It is a very accurate and nicely balanced walking hunting rifle.

I've tried a few different scopes on it and have settled on a Weaver RV9 in Warne Maxima rings.

Sounds like a really nice rig. I've heard good things about Green Mountain barrels.

Looking, at this time, more for a shorter/hunting stock than benchrest. Thank for some really good information.

Other than the factory Ruger deluxe sporter stock the MagPul hunter is the most natural feeling stock I've used. It's a very comfortable stock

I have a Hogue that you can have cheap, if you're interested. It is a new take-off from a 10/22 that I restocked for a friend. He had his gunsmith replace the factory stock, then decided that he didn't like the "feel" of the Hogue.
