During the Obama years, the Democrats controlled both houses and the WH.
They even had a filibuster proof majority in the Senate.
What firearms legislation did the Democrats pass during those years? They did not have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. They had to use a nuclear option to declare Obama care "deemed passed", without ever voting on it. They did not have 60 actual seats they had 57 with 2 Independents, Joe Lieberman and Crazy Bernie that caucused with the Democrats, that made it 59. In April of 2009 Arlen Specter switched from (R) to (D) made it 60. Although the Democrats + Bernie and Lieberman 60 majority only lasted 4 months, they did have a filibusterer proof majority in 2009. The Democrats did not use the Nuclear Option to pass Obama Care. They used Budget Reconciliation in the House which went sent to the Senate only requires a 51% vote. The Republicans used Budget Reconciliation in the House to Undo Obama care, but The War Hero McCain voted (NO) leaving passage (1) vote short. The question still remains, With all three houses, why didn't Obama and the Democrats pass Gun Control legislation similar to what they are "campaigning" on today?
