Hopefully she has good counsel...

If the wife hire James Comey, he can just say there was no intent and she will not be charged. Right? wink

A husband should hypothetically keep his mouth shut, not stir the pot by doing something dumb like calling a friend at the post office, and stop posting about it on social media. Most likely it'll get delivered and nothing more will be said about it, but if it doesn't then fess up and tell the truth about how the screw up occured.

I worked for USPS for 31 years, and I delivered all kinds of chit, including loaded ammo back in the day. I've never heard of anyone at USPS x-raying a package, but it could happen. I have been retired for 4 years, so things may have changed. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it, although those are famous last words,.

You can not legally mail ammo, primers, or primed brass with the USPS. I never heard of X-raying mail but if the package breaks open you're screwed.

Interesting. Not the outcome I would have expected. Like many I figured it would go through no issues.

I were wrong. However, that's a good outcome for the wife.... Thanks for the followup.

I know they won't ship primers but I think you can mail primed brass, could be wrong but I think there is a difference in their small minds.

This is often misunderstood. The correct statement is "Ignorance of the Law is no excuse." Ignorance of the facts is an excuse, because it negates mens rea (guilty mind). So if you would have no reason to believe that the contents of the box were anything prohibited in law, then you are innocent of the crime, lacking the required element of mens rea.
