I always preferred the 75g amax to the 80g because it didn't give up much BC and I could drive it faster. Plus the 75g always shot well for me. I had a chance to pick up some 80g eldm bullets at a good price so I just picked up a bunch.

What are your thoughts on the 75 vs the 80? I have an 8 twist 223 ai and an 8 twist 22-250. I also am working on a 22 creedmoor and 224 valkyrie. Is it worth going to the 80g if I can get them under $15 a box?

I've got 7 twist 22/250 and shoot the 90 gr Sierra bullet. I wouldn't trade it for a blue-nosed mule!!

I've always wondered why the 80's aren't more popular around here.

Sharpsman What is unique about a blue nosed mule, my Granddad only drove mules but I don't ever recall a blue nosed one.Cheers NC

The 80 grainers have always been more accurate in both my 223s and 22.250, vs the 75 grain Plastic Tip versions,

however the 75 gr BTHP was always as accurate as the 80 grain A Max and the 80 gr ELD

The 73 gr ELD-M is more accurate in my 223s vs the 75 grain Version....
and yes they are being used with the proper twists.

I bought a bunch of the 73g eldms to use at mag length in my various ARs and mag length restricted rifles. I usually just run the 75g bthp for that but these 73's were cheaper than I could get the 75's for. BC on the 2 is a wash so I'll go with the plastic tip this time.

Now I need to find an all around load for the 73 that works in several rifles. I about had a 75 bthp load figured out that worked in several rifles a few years back. I'll get the 73 figured out and load a bunch on the progressive.

And nothing 22 will catch up to .264.

But my hunting range is limited to the view from my couch.
80’s if I’m forced to .224

I've flung a few 80s at pd's and the gore and scatter wasnt near as good as the 75s, even up close and the 75s afar.

Starting velocities above 3,400 for both bullets..

I shoot 'em all and then some. The 80 ELD is an easy choice over a 69 SMK or 77 version of same,any/all thangs Nuzzler and more than a few others of the ilk. But as Hornady goes,it's a poor trade of BC to mass,if/when compared to the 75 or 88gr version of same. Hint.

.467,.485 and .545BC's respectively. The "whopping",.018 of G1 BC increase don't do it. Hint.

In fairness...however,I only shoot that gamut in 223,223AI,22 Grendel,22BR,22-250 SALAMI,22-250 Aye-Eye and Speedmire. I'm talking multiple rifles in each,save the sole 22BR in the larder. I don't Valk',nor would I,due 224 and 243 Grendel splendor(s). Hint.

I've simply shot more of the trio in extrapolation on a single outing and through more wares, than The Do Nothing Gang has in their "lifes" collectively. Hint.

Mebbe they'll wax eloquent on the "particulars" of the platforms they are using to "critique" and dangle pics of said Goat Fhuqks,to REALLY drive home their version of "knowledge","experience" and "results". Luckily,Imagination and Pretend are free,so they can "afford" to contribute. I getta kick outta the incredible depth of their very WELL founded Insecurities, conjoined with their Broke Dick efforts. Hint.

Bless their hearts for trying though!

The 75 ELD & 80 ELD are pretty much a wash. Shoot which ever shoots best in your gun or is cheapest. In 223 the 88 isn't worth the hassle out of an AR especially if you shoot mag length bullets too.

75gr hpbt have performed so well in my .223, that I haven't used anything else. The 88's in my 22 Creed have been outstanding as well

I loaded up some of the 80g eldms that I bought on clearance. They were quite a bit cheaper than the 75s so at 50% off I figured I'd slum some 80s.

I dug the T3x 22-250 8 twist I bought from Derrick a few years out of the vault. Took it out of the box, put a scope on it, rolled a few in win brass, 250s, and h4350 and made a quick trip to the range.

Fired 2 to sight it in and then shot some groups. All groups were under 1/2 moa. I should quit there but I'll try some other loads because I'd like to get the speed up a bit. I'm over 3k but I'd like to be closer to 3200.
