Ha! I’ve still got GrandDad’s mower just like that!
We actually thought it was fun to mow with when we were kids.

I had one of the them reel mowers just a couple of years back. I love them...............but since I bought the battery operated one for my wife.....................I'll likely never go back to the reel mower.

Bummer is the battery one will never last for an acre and a half......................................

of course, neither will I any more. grin

Enjoy that welder. What's it put out, about a megawatt or so?

Reminds me of the go cart my cousins had with the step to start washing machine motor. Would go up to jogging speed. Think my uncle the engineer/gunsmith had something to do wit that. Moving OSHA violation but I think kids then were smarter than adults are now. (No, keep body parts clear of a moving belt.)

I hear ya there!

One of my routes to work takes me past a scrap place. When the scrap prices were high a few years back, there were semi's with flatbeds lined up to get in with every source of steel imaginable, including some salvageable classic cars.

The one that made me most sick to my stomach was a full load of antique implements for the smaller tractors. Many of them were fast hitch or 3 point. Grrrrrrrrrrr

Talked to my happy-go-lucky cousin last night. I've never seen him this down in the dumps. He has given up on his grain crops and is worried that if he can't get in to get his corn chopped, he will have to sell his cattle.

Straw to bed barns is non-existent this year and the hay won't last long without silage. Bad deal, all the way around.

We may. just may be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Let us hope so! This could be a long hard fall.

Course, don't forget, us farmers lose at least two crops a year.

Jim, given the circumstances 15% goes in the bin.

But get it out by the time it warms up.

Cut alfalfa yesterday and today. Low forecast at 15 for Wednesday. If we didn’t cut it it would have frosted and fallen apart. 50% or less we get to bale it, highs forecasted at 35 for Thursday. If we don’t, we’ll graze the windrows. Nothing else to do.

Those grain wagons aren't used here. It's flat enough and dry enough to take semi's right out in the fields.
