Is Dick's stock traded on the market? I'd be really pissed if I owned stock in that liberal circle jerk of a company and found out they just flat out destroyed 5 million dollars worth of assets.

Destroy $5M in rifles, lose $25M in sales. Dick’s stopped selling AR-15s after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012 but took it a step further after the 2018 Parkland high school shooting, raising the gun purchase age to 21 and banning the sale of high-capacity magazines and assault-style rifles. It was a highly controversial move that Mr. Stack said cost the company “pretty close” to $250 million.
“About a quarter of a billion,” Mr. Stack said when asked how much the company lost during a CBS interview aired Sunday.
He said the company turned $5 million worth of weapons pulled from store shelves into scrap metal.
“I said, ‘You know what? If we really think these things should be off the street, we need to destroy them,’ ” he said. Color me skeptical, but that must be a paper write off. No CEO of a corp. that size could survive a $250 whim if it was real dollars.

There is no shortage of AR15 and companies that make them. SO those will be replaced soon and the gun industry will make more money.
Dick's will loose money because they are in "Banzi-Stupid-Mode" and that is great. Overtly socialist now, so they are boycotted by all American that have sense or brains, (I am only hoping that is enough to cause them to go under, but time will tell) and now they cut their own throats by destroying potential profits.
There are probably 15 companies who make AR15s that will take up the slack and be delighted to do so, in only about 3 days, so NO ONE who can lawfully buy an AR15 will be unable to do so.
So I personally can't see a down side here.

I think they should be encouraged to now destroy $5 million worth of baseball bats, then $5 million worth of hockey sticks, then $5 million worth of barbell weights - all blunt objects that kill more people than falsely-named assault rifles do every year.
