Went shopping today looking for a birthday present... for me, and low and behold Sportsman’s Warehouse had a Christensen Arms Mesa in 6.5 CM as well as 6.5 PRC. I’ve owned a couple creedmoors but they really just didn’t do anything for me and went down the road. I’ve been reading about the PRC since it was released and thought now that’s more to my liking. Anyone have one of these Mesas that cares to sway me in one direction or another? May go back in the morning and get the Mesa.

Cub, I looked hard at the CA offerings including fondling/shooting the Mesa, Ridgeline, etc. that buddies have.

I bought the Seekins Havak PH and I'm thrilled with it. In 6.5 PRC from handling, recoil, accuracy, etc...

YMMV and just my thoughts from tired of gunsmith times/BS.....

I have one. I've only shot factory 143 ELD-X and 147 ELDM throught it. It shoots both slightly under an inch for 3100, and will keep 3 at MOA at 400 with a 6x SS. I used it Friday to kill an antelope buck at 300 yards. The 143 penetrated from the right shoulder through the left hindquarter. Feeds and ejects well. I like it. Like you, the Creed doesn't do it for me for some reason.

Nice. You loading for it or factory ammo?

Loading. About half to 3/4 MOA out to 600 - 5 shot groups. 130 VLD's and H4831sc. About 3200 trued MV...

Does it bounce off game? <G>

I would rather have the PRC over the Creed.

I've got the Mesa in 6.5 PRC as well. I love it. I put the Sig BDX system scope on it and was hitting the target at 660 yards with 147 ELD-M factory stuff with regularity. I've been loading the 130 Accubond and the 130 Scirocco with 58.5 H-1000/CCI BR-2 or the Rem 9-1/2 and getting 3100 FPS and sub .5 MOA with it. I'm ready to air it out on some west Texas critters this fall!

Well I went back today and pulled the trigger on it. It’s a damn sweet rifle, picked up a couple boxes of the factory 143 ELDX’s and will shoot it tomorrow, hope it’s a shooter. I have H4831sc might need to pick up some H1000 too. Gotta order some 139 Scenars!

Is the Mesa 6.5 PRC a short action or medium action rifle. Curious to know the max. length of the mag box.

Sweet Jesus is this an amazing rifle. I went to the range early this morning before the wind picked up. Boresighted the scope at 50 yards using the old fashioned pull the bolt eye ball it and made adjustments. Only took 1 shot, moved it out to 100 and shot a 1/2” group about 3 “ high . Made a couple more adjustments and shot a 1/2” group at 1.75” high. Moved out to 200 and put one right in the middle of the 1/2” circle in the bullseye. All this was with factory 143 ELDX’s. I chronod 3 of them and they went between 2983,2991 and 2995. The trigger is amazing, light and crisp. The felt recoil is non existent, feels like a 223 with the brake device they come with. I am beyond tickled pink over this thing.

The Mesa 6.5 PRC is a short action. I can seat the 130 Scirocco's and Accubonds out pretty far.

Good time to pick one of these up. SW had them on sale for $1124 I also got the first responder/Mil discount and that knocked it down another $56. $1068 for this package is a pretty good deal IMO. A plain Jane 700 SPS in a McMillan would cost me more than that.

Congrats on the new rifle - looks like it should be a good one. I just got their email showing the 10% sale on all Christensen rifles so was hoping you also got the discount. And agreed for that price thats a lot of rifle.
