Oh heck, there's a plethora of good chilly weather "bowl" foods.

Chicken and noodles
Chicken and dumplings
Shepherd's Pie
Cottage Pie
Ham and Beans
Beef stew
Chowder
Gumbo
and of course, the eponymous CHILI

(with or without beans!)

We love variations of hamdeerburger soup, for the winter.

Some times throw in pearl barley, sometime "soup mix" grains/beans.

Alway use rotel chili tomatoes !

Sorry Richard, no idea !

I'll ask Deb, if she stops in.

Maybe $2.99/lb for frozen mid sized butterball ?

Not bad at all Paul. In Storm Lake they will run about a dollar, or a bit less just before our Thanksgiving.

Some years they run a free bird with enough other purchase.

There are a lot of large, I mean big, turkey growing barns near here.. The operators have to kill a random bird for tests.

Those folks don't eat near as much turkey as you might think.

I started a Jäger Eintopf about 1/2 hour ago. Have a little over a pound of deer cutlets (diced) and leeks simmering in a bit of red wine, or live oil, with a dash of red wine vinegar. Some thyme, minced garlic, blk pepper and a good dousing of paprika. Edit! Forgot to mention the mushrooms!!!

Let it cook down. Then I’ll spread on the mashed potatoes and pour on the grated cheese. Into the oven til done.

Yeah, kinda the German version of shepherds pie. W/O the shepherd.

Been waiting all summer to make this again.
