Was dove hunting with a bud, and we were in separate blinds about 20 yards apart.
Some doves flew just over my blind, and he fired at them.
I'll NEVER forget the sound of that shot going right over my head.
It was quite a "whoooosh" sound from the pellets.

There is a very good book about the battle of Antietam called Antietam the Soldiers’ Battle. The whole book is comprised of passages from letters and accounts written about the battle by the soldiers on both sides.
Two Confederate soldiers above the bridge over Antietam creek who were also musicians were calling the notes made by inbound and outbound minies as they whizzed by.
Of course those minies woulda been subsonic, only about 7-800 FPS.

I heard a 45 ACP coming at me when it was fired from about 50 yards away.
