The same old 'fire, If I'd ask which way is north, how many different options might I get? It all depends on which way is up, depending on your point of view. We do have our Australians on the 'fire.

I just tuned in and am disappointed people aren't arguing about the use of flour.

I just tuned in and am disappointed people aren't arguing about the use of flour. If that got started, you can bet that it would involve the superiority of some brand (probably some obscure regional one) over all others.

No Jim, I've never tried either beer, or wine in a dish.

When I first started reading this thread I was hungry for some beef stew. That was then, now not so much.

Always seemed to me to be more of an affectation than anything else. One time we had a church picnic where the Ks of C were in charge of brats. They were steamed in a bath of beer, onions, and green peppers. My unsophisticated palate was incapable of appreciating the difference between those and ones just steamed with plain old water.

If you can't tell the difference between something cooked with beer or wine vs not then the problem is with your schnozzola

We did a pot roast today. 5# chuck roast, carrots, parsnips, rutabaga, a few potatoes and lots of red wine and beef stock. Outstanding!
