Take one that hasn't been blooded. Take the -06 as a backup.

This is a problem with 30-06 rifles in general. Once you get one, all the other chamberings become somewhat obsolete.
Yep, I had to sell a Win 670 in 30-06. It was just too boringly dependable. Thousands of groundsquirels, dozens of deer, many, many grouse, and an elk over twenty years. I replaced it with a Ruger #1 in 7mmSTW, which made room for lighter calibers to use on things other than elk.
People who choose to brew up their own storms bitch loudest about the rain.

I call them my kid's. My wife thinks I'm a little different when it comes to my rifles.
It's all good.

Went out this morning for the first day of our early doe season (bear are legal too). Took my Browning Low Wall .44, which has never seen the woods. Very handy, even if limited in range. Might take it next time, or the .223; both are unbloodied. With two in the freezer via crossbow, there's no meat pressure.
When the regular season opens next month, the 6mm Fieldcraft comes out. No fooling around then.
Most of us probably have too many, but I have a hard time paring them down. Might have to settle for just not buying more, also tough!
What fresh Hell is this?

I always take my 30-06 + the one that's catches my eye that day! Lately it's been a bolt .223.

I'm getting toward this dilemma but not quite there...yet. I've got a 25-06 that I refer to as my "freezer filler", never anything huge walks out when I take it, but usually something worth a tag comes along and I've taken the bulk of my deer with it. It almost always goes, then I have to decide between 243, 270 and 300WM. The 243 and 270 haven't filled a tag yet so its a toss-up most times. If we've got access to the bean fields I'll take the 300WM to stretch its legs.
Perhaps you should name your guns by day of the week or determine an order by which was acquired first, second, etc. Bottom line is there are no wrong answers to this scenario. Good luck and enjoy the season!
