My Canik TP9SFx is pretty much right there with only a couple spring changes (Glock 6lb striker spring and reduced power plunger spring) and is one of the most accurate 9mm pistols I've ever fired. The reset is very short too, like a good single action trigger should be.

I'm not sure how you get there with a 320 though; mine had a GreyGuns trigger and springs, and while the trigger wasn't bad, it was still not in the same league as my Canik or a decent 1911. I'm sure some are able to get there, but it must take a bit more $$$ and fiddling. That GreyGuns trigger was in the same ballpark as my best Glock triggers, meaning it's pretty decent for a striker fired gun but you still know they are striker fired, unlike the Canik.

I looked at two different 320s at different shops, both were already set up with Romeo sights and were "match-ready" for lack of another description, they were the X models, I guess. I didn't want to buy one then, but I've warmed up to them a bit. I'm still a 1911 guy at heart, and probably always will be. I am objective enough to be able to appreciate the new stuff, though.

I feel the same way, but have ended up with a lot more striker fired plastic in the safe than 1911's these days for various reasons, and a G19 in my belt.

- used Glock. Hard to argue with that... Prices are low. Qyality is proven. Goodies are everywhere. I own a Gen3 G22 refurb that I paid around $250 for a few years back that someone kindly broke in for me. By wearing out the frame. Now its perfect.

- Canik TP9. I've just started playing around with mine. Shoots well. Love the trigger. Definitly not a "block" in my hand. Paid $200 used (99%?) at a local store and it came with the goodie box.
I'd buy another tomorrow at that price and believe it or not I'd rather have the V2 version than the SA I have. I suddenly like a DA/SA when the trigger is this good. I wouldn't have said that until the Walther/Canik trigger.

- FN. No experience but some of my shooter friends do and have a very good opinion of them. I hear that they hold up well at the rental places too.

- P320. Shot one a little. It suits my hand and I like it a lot for accuracy and easy shooting. Trigger is easy enough but doesn't really have a "feel" to it. At least not to me. No opinion past that.

- M&P9. No experience but I hear a lot of very different things.

- SD9. A real dark horse, but... while the Sigma flat out sucked, the SD9 (or the "value" version SD9VE) seem to be a lot better. The SD9 needs the Apex trigger upgrade if you ask me but I've handled a few lately and I was very surprised at the fit. Not SIG-like but pretty good. Much, much better than a Sigma.
So I started reading around and found also surprised but positive feedback on them. They are truly low cost - think $150/175 if you look around, plus $55 for the Apex setup if you want it.

I had a CZ P07 in 9mm. I never should have traded. I shot that pistol very well.

one thing about the sig p320-m17 is the safety.
i called apex a few weeks ago, they do not have an aftermarket trigger kit as the safety interfers with their kit.
i measured with a guage a 7pound trigger pull on it. was trying to figure out a way to reduce it.

About the Caniks, for those who don't know - some models have DA/SA triggers, and others (like the TP9SFx) are SA only. I'm sure the trigger feel varies between them; I've only used the SA version.
My SFx is good enough that it's got me considering an SF Elite model as well. Only thing holding me back is the stupid new gun laws here in WA.

Hindering - my experience is that the SA trigger on both the DA and SA only guns is the same, and that the DA guns just add the DA option.
I haven't done this side by side though, just my impression.

So far, I enjoy the Canik SA

Good stuff - on the M&P comment on the trigger, would you say it's - 'Mushy/spongy?'

Thanks.

the canik compact elite is very tempting for the price, it is 1.45 inches thick they say, compare to a G21 at 1.34, however for the money it would still be a great gun. Just for fun a 2 x 4 is nominally 1.5 inches thick..

They are available both with or without a manual safety.

One thing to remember about the less popular models is that it is harder to find holsters and other accessories, along with spare parts down the road.

Beretta announced a lowering of prices on the APX series of pistols. The msrp on the APX is $399 and the lowest allowable advertised price is $329. It looks like Beretta is trying to get market share for the APX line. At that price, with the level of quality the Beretta has, it is an awesome value.

I shot an APX last week. It was horrendous. Terrible trigger, terrible sights, and the recoil spring is ridiculously heavy. It’s so oversprung the recoil feels much heavier than it should.

Thanks.

I’ve shot quite a few of the 2.0 triggers and a LOT of the original M&Ps. The new trigger design is much better and more consistent gun-to-gun. I wouldn’t describe the 2.0 triggers as mushy/spongy at all.

When the Canik tp9sf first arrived I mention how great they was in the value most of you f****** laughed at me now you're praising them. You're kind of slow to catch on sometimes. I have an Elite model and sfx and SF the only thing that comes close to these in a factory gun is Walther PPQ which by not coincidence many parts are interchangeable eith the canik. As should be noted the canex came with some growing pains from a early models are triggers could very some all the way to the SF bottle after that they've been pretty consistent except in some specialty guns

Bluedreaux, I am interested in your opinions on the trigger and sights on the APX. For me the APX is replacing my 92F as a primary handgun. The trigger is not as good the single action on my 92F, but neither is any other polymer striker fired pistol in my opinion. Is it to heavy, too much creep, mushy, too long a reset?.For a factory trigger on a polymer striker fired gun, I think that it's okay. In my opinion it's better than a G17 or M&P 2.0 trigger, but probably not as good as VP9 or PPQ. To me the sights are good for factory standard sights, and they are steel not plastic, but I probably will replace them with tritium night sights at some point in the future. One problem that the APX does have is poor aftermarket support, It's definitely not a Glock, S&W or Sig when it comes to accessories available for it. Thanks
