Noticed a guy on gunbroker was saleing .375 brass made from 30-30 brass. Has anyone ever done this and what is involved? Can .356 or 38-55 etc. be made from 30-30.

Easy to do, you essentially end up with .38-55 brass. .375 Win brass is thicker and with Starline now making it, I'd simply buy new. https://www.starlinebrass.com/375-winThere was a time when brass was scarce so one made their own form .30-30 cases or.38-55 brass. .356 cases cannot be made from .30-30 brass since it's parent case is the .358 Win derived from the .308. To make your cases you simply neck up the brass. I prefer to neck up in stages. A buddy of mine prefers to fire form using cream of wheat.

Thanks i learn something new on 24hourcampfire all the time! If i could only find a like new 375 winchester i would be good to go. I will never understand why winchester would quit makeing ammo -brass for all the guns-calibers they have built.

I’ve made a lot of my 375 cases from 30/30 brass. It’s easy enough to do. If the brass is new and unfired, simply neck up (in stages if you don’t have a tapered expander), then load a bullet and use for practice, small game etc. If the brass is work or age hardened, then anneal before and after forming and you’ll have less rejects. The cases do come up about 1mm short but you can use a Lee FCD to crimp the bullet in position to maintain the correct OAL.
There is a wide variation in case capacity in 30/30 brass, so try to stick to the one brand. The best I found was PMC (no longer made) followed by Winchester.
38/55 brass is more lightly constructed in the head area. Generally you can use them as is but I only use them for lighter loads. The longer Starline brass (2.125”) will probably need to be trimmed.
You should be able to make 356 brass from 444 brass.
