Please tell me the brand and model (or power output) needed to provide electricity to two large refrigerator-freezers and one freezer.
Thanks, RS

+1 for make, model and size for OP's needs. Perfect! Another vote for Honda, ,EU 7000, you could also converted to propane. Fantastic generator. I get away with my EU 3000 1 stand up freezer 1refrigeratorAll the lighting I need, but most of my lights are LED.

We have a crew here at work that are repointing the masonry on the building. Prior to last week each crew(roughly 4 of them) had their garden variety generators running at the same time and if you were sitting in the building the noise was a bit much. Last week the braintrust bought a 6k Honda generator and it runs all their equipment and purrs like a kitten. Framers that did my first house used one of these and they ran nail gun compressors , saws , you name it and it purred like a kitten.

+1 A buddy has a Honda EU2200 with a propane / natural gas conversion (the conversion cost only about 270 bucks at Amazon Direct LINKHe says he couldn't be happier than with this combo and his father-in-law is going the same route but with one of the bigger Honda generators. ADDED: He is going to order the Honda EU7000 generator -- he says it is lots more money but lots more power and features too. Here is a LINK to help you calculate how big a generator you need as you asked! Don't know why my direct links are not working right now, but just copy then and paste them into a browser. john

Research, and my own observations have the propane conversions on Hondas to be less efficient in both consumption and power output. Unless one is getting free LP or propane, gasoline is the most economical and lowest hassle. I always have plenty of gasoline available, with three vehicles or more on the property.

Just ordered a Honda EM6500SX yesterday. Planning on installing an interlock on my service panel so I can pick the breakers I want to power. Should run more than I'll ever need on at once.

Back when I bought a generator for my RV, the 3 top rated were Honda, Yamaha and Robin/Subaru. I got the best deal on the Robin/Subaru 3200 watt inverter. I have used it many times during a power outage at home to do just what the OP is looking for. 2 refrigerators and one stand-up freezer, misc. lights, blower fan on the wood stove, TV on occasion. One cautionary thing, one of our refrigerators will trip the ground fault, sometimes. But that brings down everything. So I made a pigtail for the 30 amp twistlock outlet to a 20 amp plug, and that took care of that.

I've had good luck with Champion Honda clones. They are a Chinese made unit, but Champion has decent quality control and they have always worked well for me. I just saw a dual fuel, (gas/propane) Champion 3500/4000? for sale at Sam's Club for about 350 bucks. They also sell the Champions at Tractor Supply. Most the time they are in the 300 to 400 dollar range. Don't go any lower than the 3500/4000 watt units to run stuff in your house. With that size you can run a forced air gas furnace, refrigerators and small 120v AC units. You can't run large 220v driers or ranges, etc. Mine get great fuel economy for what they are, and will run 12 hours or so on a low draw. Some people think bigger is better, but if you don't need a larger Wattage unit, you just use a bunch of gas for nothing. Remember, you have to feed the beast, so get just enough to get you through a outage and not suck down fuel at a high rate. You can buy 3 Champions for less than one Honda.

you only need about 1200 to 1500 watts to run a fridge but the problem is you have to start them first. to have 3 running isn't going to require that much but the starting of them will.
Without specifics I would guess you would need around 6000 to 8000 watts and even at that I'm not sure 8000 would handle starting all 3 at once. All 3 starting at once would be a pretty rare occurrence but when it did happen and you didn't have enough generator you would blow breakers and then you would have nothing.

Check out Northern Tool. They have a good selection. Lot of generators made with Honda motors out there. Personally I think the Honda generators are way over priced, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy other mfg that use Honda engines. I have had good luck with Norstar equipment, all with Honda motors

Honda and Yamaha have inverter power, so it can be used on electronic device without issues. I would have got a Honda, but back in the day Cabelas sold Yamaha, and I got it for 1/2 price with points. It has been absolutely perfect. I have the 2000 watt one, and I run refridge, lights, and 2 pellet stoves with ease. I flip the drag cord down to the freezer as needed. Freezers and fridges can work on a rotation in my opinion. That allows a pretty portable unit like the 2000 series. I use mine for the RV if we can't get a power hook up. Nice that is is easy on gas. Anyway I am happy with my choice.
