Anyone know if the Meopta 15s can be used by hand just for short periods of viewing or are they better suited to be on a tripod all the time. I’m just wanting something with more magnification for glassing around the house across big fields compared to my Tract Toric 10x42s. I want them to be useable in my hands but not necessarily for long periods of time.

Put your 10's on a tripod. You'll be better off doing this than hand holding 15's...

Put your 10's on a tripod. You'll be better off doing this than hand holding 15's... Thanks! I might just order the Tract Torics 12.5 x 50 and call it a day. I’ve been super happy with my Tract Toric 10 x 42s and I’m just really wanting a 2nd pair more or less to keep around the house while my 10 x 42s are in my hunting pack this time of year. A tad more magnification will help but the 12.5s shouldn’t be too extreme. I was just on their website and they have 10% off today for Vets day so I may just jump on that. The quality I’ll receive for $700 is probably going to be damn hard to beat!

Tripod mounting any binocular will increase your quality. A 15x should always be mounted for any type of decent use

I'm not surprised you like them so much elkaddict. Not just because they are Swaro's, but the bigger objective SV's (50mm) are really special, and superior to the 8.5x and 10x versions, as you mentioned. I feel the same way about my 10x50's. Not sure why, as I'm not that tech saavy, but they really have no peer, IMO. It's because the bigger lense resolves better than the smaller lense. General rule the larger the surface area the better the resolution of the glass is the same.

I had the big Swarovskis and ultimately decided they were too big and heavy to use as handheld binoculars, so sold them. Resting them on a bean bag provided a nice image, but a decent lighter spotting scope provides much better viewing if support is required and regular size x42 binos are not enough. Just my experience fwiw.
