Does anyone have information on the status of the migrations? HAs it started, is it over, or not started yet?

We're heading out in about 10 days. I've been out of country and, while we've had 2 feet of snow where I live (per my wife who had to plow out), I have no idea what's been happening around Craig and Meeker. (Black Mountain/Bears Ears and Sleepy Cat/Hamilton areas in particular).

TIA

Some elk in small numbers have crossed over the 13 north of Craig, but the major migration hasn't started yet. I have friends hunting down in Meeker but haven't heard any reports from them. Will post if I hear anything.

We got nearly 2 feet of snow during the 2nd season in our location. One person in our group shot a 5x4 bull and a cow out of a herd of about 15. He said there were 6-8 mule deer running with them when they came thru. We had fresh elk tracks almost nightly within 100 yards of our camp. We were hunting with J Bar H outfitters.

Looks like some elk have started moving but the mild weather later in the 3rd season may have slowed it down. The processors were packed in Meeker when we dropped off & picked up deer & Craig was reportedly full too. We brought home a couple of cows missed a very brief opportunity at bulls too near private to be comfortable shooting.

How was the hunt and how is the migration? I picked up a late season cow tag in unit 11. Hoping these storms build into something and keep moving them down.

We were seeing scattered bands of elk during 3rd season south of Craig, but nothing that amounted to a herd or migration. Same report from the boys in 4th season. Happy Trails

Wife was watching Daughter's 9-month baby and he took sick. Everyone (Daughter, hubby and myself) went home after 2nd day. Saw some elk on private land, no shot opportunities.
