I know it is a lot bigger bite up front but I went with a chamber sealer about four years ago and have never regretted it. I have more than paid for it with the difference in the price of the bags. I have a Vacmaster VP210, I think there is a newer model number now. My wife probably uses it more than I do. It will seal liquids so she makes up bone broth and seals it and freezes it, big pot of soup and seals and freezes. I seal emergency water packs to keep in my ditch bag. Seal up ammo. Seal towels to keep on the boat and dry. We ordered our bags off amazon 1000 count of three different sizes and are still working on the ones from our first order. The bags now cost around $55/1000 including shipping.

Food Saver Pro about 20 years ago. Not sure what model that translates to today. Haven't used it a lot the last few years but we used to do a ton of fish with it for a lot of years. Its been good.

I use a mid line cabelas branded vac ( Weston i believe). Bought it on sale for $120 or so.
Works ok. Juicy /wet stuff doesn’t work the best.
I don’t vac nearly enough to justify one of those chamber sealers.
Though on the flip side, if i did have one. I’d prolly vac a bunch more stuff....

I have an older foodsaver, probably 15 years old. I do about 150 bags per year average, I'd guess. Some years more, some years less. It's really good, have to watch really wet stuff but for most fish, game, fowl, etc., it works really well.
Also, buy good bags. I bought some knock offs one year and almost all of them broke seal. The food saver or westin brand are good quality. I'm sure there's others, just what I've used.

Yes cheap bags suck. And yes again juice running up towards the seal as its compressing is the enemy. I read somewhere or someone gave me the idea just take about a 2 inch strip of clean white paper towel as long as the opening of the bag, fold it in half twice and put it in the bag just clear of the seal area. Juice getting to the seal point is reduced big time.

In the I haven’t validated this category:
In a chamber machine, Read some reviews tonight from a guy that instead of using bags (and their associated cost) for items that he’d get into frequently, he instead would use canning jars with canning lids. Guy said instead of damaging the seal on the canning lid, he pokes a hole in the lid with a thumb tack. Then covers that hole with electrical tape. Then reuses the lid in the chamber machine. Said the tape makes a seal and can get 10 or 12 reseals with one piece of tape.

I have burned up a lot of Food Saver brand sealers over the years. I purchased this from Walton's a few years ago and it has held up great. https://www.amazon.com/Weston-Pro-2...ative=165953&creativeASIN=B001GP81R2I purchase bags (8x12) from ebay $65/500.
