When will poor people start doing something valuable?

I pre-ordered the dual motor version since it is supposed to deliver first. My old Tacoma does everything I need from a truck, but the thought of passively trolling boomers just by driving past them is more than I can bear.

The ultimate tar baby.
Just jack it up, bulldog the front end.
Put some of those low ratio profile tires on it.

I'm not adverse to the technology.

But I'm confused about exactly "who" Elan Musk was targeting with this?

Country people? Ranchers? Farmers? (The people that historically buy a pickup...)

Can I see myself pulling up the the Producer's Co-Op, backing in, and telling them to load me 2 tons of cubes, and a half dozen protein tubs?

Ummmmm.... No.

Nope, If country people, ranchers and farmers meant anything to him he'd have had Realtree camo body wrap put on that thing for the demo.

He's targeting the Smartwatch wearing crowd.

One look at that "pick up truck" would send the cows running through the fence thinking the aliens had come to do cattle mutilations.

I see a potential market in people like me. I could get by with an enclosed SUV except for hauling certain items like bloody, dead game animals, trash from the cabin, and general household and cabin large items like fix-up stuff. The forest service doesn’t allow true off-roading anymore, so my travel is limited to established dirt and gravel roads, and then there are the ATV and UTV for established trails and barely maintained roads. (The ATV goes in the truck bed and the UTV gets trailered a total of about 200 miles per year.) A 400 mile cruising range is all I need for 95% of my activities, and I could shift the other 5% to a different vehicle.

Most households in my area have a pickup truck as a second vehicle, and I suspect that most fit the same profile as me. I see a market IF the technology works.

I hope so. If not him, somebody will at some point.

The plan supposedly was for Tesla to bring their big truck [think Kenworth] here for winter testing if they could find enough electricity to charge it.
I'll have to ask if that's still a plan.

Friends that have driven the Teslas say the acceleration is incredible.

I wish he'd make me a chain saw.

Aspiration is what drives (pun intended) the millennials...

They need things that represent how much better they are

Really guys you can’t make this stuff up - it’s not a “need” or “requirements” based design vehicle, they just threw some innovations from other tech into it... which is kind of cool - but does it work ?

Pretty sure it’s going to be hard to design a hitch for pulling a trailer on a vehicle without a frame ... but what do I know

Just for the record, Elon Musk's current net worth is 24.4 billion dollars.
He could afford to have the best of hookers blow coke up his nose for him.

He was a broke immigrant kid from South Africa in 1992 who came to the US with some fresh ideas.
At the time he stated that he came to America because “It is where great things are possible".
He became a US citizen in 2002, the rest is rather well known history.

So, Elon is going to try and go after Ford's territory.

Meanwhile, Ford is going after your territory Elon.

Nothing else rolling off factory assembly lines comes close. Surprising if that matters to many truck buyers, I don't know, but I can't see it being long before EVs / hybrids wipe out the internal combustion only sports car market. That is, if those buyers actually value performance above sounding like they are going fast.

You have to admit that the Cybertruck meets the "form meets function" test: it's utterly ridiculous on both counts. With a ridiculous price to boot.
