Are DNZ Game Reaper mounts as good as Talley Lightweight? Would be going on a post 64 model 70 in 338 magnum. Thanks, Don

No experience with Talley Lightweights, but DNZ mounts are STOUT...I bought 2 sets to use on heavy rifles that never got built, no idea why I never used them.

IMO the DNZ Game Reapers are better in some ways IMO. The DNZ will not mar your scope and have a true alignment. The Tallys are a bit lighter and slimmer. I have two DNZ mounts on rifles and Talley Lightweight rings on another. Both the DNZ and Talley LW mounts are ugly. The choice is like between a chunky ugly gal and a skinny ugly gal. In the end neither will win a beauty contest.

I have both and prefer the DNZ over Talley's. They are not as good looking but very stout and well made.

I have one of the DNZ AR mounts. It's rock solid.

Have some of the Talley LW's as well on bolt actions, the DNZ strike me as being stronger. Less screws but they are bigger.

Have one on a 1895 Marlin in 450 Marlin and another on a TC Encore in 300 Win. Never had an issue. Great sleek look and design with a solid construction.

Since old Manyard Buehler isn't around anymore I have gone to DNZ on all our rifles and very impressed with them. You can also get their leveling jig which is pretty good.

the DNZ's have chitty ring spacing, IMO.....

For some rifles I have to agree.

I was a bit limited on my Savage LA, but I was able to make it work. I Love the mount. I also have a 5.56 Freedom Reaper on my Grendel and a standard AR mount on my .308.

My only complaint on them. I live with it on most. Last pair I picked up were the 2 piece hunt master's they make. They can be reversed so it fixes that problem.

Having used rings from both manufacturers there is no way a Talley ring is more robust , I have never lapped a DNZ but have to do it on every Talley lightweight I buy.

I have a Remington 600 Mohawk and would like to use the DNZ 1 piece mount for a Schmidt & Bender 4x36 mm scope. The outer front bell diameter is 40 mm. According to the height sheet DNZ recommends LOW rings.
How is your experience? Are LOW rings too high? Does DNZ even offer EXTRA LOW mounts for the 600 / Model 7?

So DNZ does offer EXTRA LOW mounts.
Do you think they will fit the Mohawk with a 36 mm scope?

No idea about that exact combination but there was enough clearance for a 40mm objective on a 700. However, the bolt didn't clear the power ring on the fast-focus eyepiece.

I’d go low just in case your scopes rear bell is bigger and doesn’t hit the action.

Thank you very much for the hint on the rear bell interfering with XLOW rings. I will go with the LOW ones. These should do the trick. Besides, since I use a can on this gun, too low rings will throw too big a shade in the field of view. So a bit higher rings will do better in this regard.
