King Jim the First hereby decrees:

1. No more universal suffrage. Still thinking about how to qualify voters but you have to a) earn it and b) requalify periodically. The equal opportunity to earn it will be denied to no one who is a bona fide citizen, but you have to earn it, you're not born with it.

2. No one receiving personal assistance from the government is allowed to vote.

That's pretty much it. An involved electorate each acting in their own best interest but who cannot vote themselves largesse from the public funds would take care of a lot of ills.

King Jim the First hereby decrees that any actress wishing for a role in a movie or TV show has to "visit" with me first to earn my recommendation. This recommendation is good for one movie/TV role only and must be requalified for each and every subsequent role. Regal dispensation may be granted for ugly actresses.

You'll do best not to worry about America but whatever chit-hole you live in. Outlawing lobbying would go a long way to reduce costs and build the military to where it needs to be. So would compulsory service. All easily done.

To add to my OP, my wife thinks it’s a good idea to take all repeat offender violent criminals, anyone with a life sentence, and sequester them, a la Australia. Fend for yourselves, boys. Here’s some seeds, a few cows/chickens/pigs, mules with plows, it’s up to you. Turn back the clock to 1800, people did just fine.

Maybe buy a big piece of Africa, put ‘em there.

I've seen plenty of people who go into the military as screw up, and are still screw ups when they come out.

There's a huge difference between volunteers and draftee's. When I went through basis it was with a unit of mostly National Guardsmen. My experience was very different from my buddies in the next company over who served with companies of primarily Regular Army guys.

We ended the draft for a reason.

The proponents are also not thinking about all the gang banger who will go back to banging after Uncle Sam turns them into more efficient killers.

Look at the number of bangers wounded vs killed in Chicago. Maybe we need bangers with skills.

3) After a 2nd felony conviction or 3rd misdeameanor conviction a person is declared an Outlaw. Having decided to live outside the law, they no longer have the protection of it. Killing them is no longer a crime.

I know all about the Cold War, it was my war. I was a short distance from Soviet airspace when the Wall came down, about 2-3 minutes flight away from the nearest IRMB's which most likely include us in their target list. I had a front row seat to the Cold War in a role requiring intense study and intimate knowledge of the Soviet threat. I doubt you can say the same.
