I enjoy hunting whitetails in that type terrain. Nice bucks there. Kids got a surplus of elk meat in freezer this fall or I'd be deer hunting vs bird hunting.

Many moons ago I had that issue with a 7mm Rem Mag. Prepped for cross canyon shots and took a buck at abut 5 yds feeding in a drainage. Could actually hear its teeth grinding as I was waiting for the head and neck to lift. Likely, muzzle blast alone would have been sufficient.

Great bucks and rifle. Will that Al Biesen ever hunt?
As for changing the pad, Biesen was famous for his steel butt plate. It makes the rifle extra special, albeit less practical to have one. Therefore a real buttpad would significantly impact value. If I were to hunt with that, i would bolt it in to a Howa or a nice laminate stock.

Great bucks , congrats to you and your wife!
You could rebarrel that to a stainless steel in 6.5 creed more you know!!! 😁😁😁
And a slip on recoil pad, and paint that hideous stock!! 😁😁😁😁

It will hunt one week next year with its twin, a friend owns and then go into hiding until someone wants it more than me and I love it.
