I spent my high school years in the 70's just about thirty road miles from Manhattan, went to school with a bunch of Americans of Italian descent (along with Jewish, Irish, German and Puerto Ricans, not so many Black kids).
The whole culture depicted in the movie was a big part part of THE culture in the area, tho all these happenings were of no immediate relevance to me. In the same way the Mexican ancestry of most of my present community has a huge effect on the culture where I'm at now. I expect either would be sorta remote for those who grew up in places totally different and far away.

I thought is was good and Peci and Pacino did a goos job acting DiNero is a POS
And of course it was predictable it is based on actual events Totally agree. Very good movie and yeah its baded on true story lol so obviously

The only guy I felt was really miscast was Bobby Kennedy, surely they could have found an actor that at least resembled him for that minor role.

So, it's either great or terrible. Well, it ain't an action movie per se, just a sort of somber recounting of events. If any movie glorified gangsters it was Goodfellas, but there the larger-than-life personalities of the major roles brung that whole movie to life, maybe beyond the bounds of reality.
