Anybody familiar with or know anything about the Browning BAR Mk II Safari 30-06 Lightweight model with the aluminum receiver browning made years ago. The good or bad about them?

Nothing bad unless you want wood and a nice blued finish The bolt locks up in the barrel, should give good life and are a bit lighter then a STD BAR . A better rifle then the current BAR Mark III.

It is wood and blued. It's the on left with plain receiver. Guy said they only made them for a few years around 2000.

The Shortrac are aluminum receiver guns, they seem to be holding up, have a couple of friends with them and no complaints

I had a 243 version - the only thing that I found with them is to let the bolt shut hard, I have a bad habit of hand closing bolts so they make zero noise, sure enough once I didn’t push it to battery (I didn’t lock)... so when I pulled the trigger it didn’t fire because it wasn’t locked up.
Other than that one thing I’m picky on, it was flawless

I couldn't find one for sale on gun broker or anywhere else to compare a price. He wants $950 with the Nikon Monarch 3x9x40 scope or $800 for just rifle. Any ideas on price point?

I confused it with the stalker which is a synthetic stock and aluminum receiver. I did not know they made a "lightweight" with a wood stock.

I need to buy a BAR, if only because a pard some 35 years ago always used one.

It looks clean, but I still think that is pretty steep. I have seen some very nice ones go for less on auction. I would offer him $700 without the scope.

I have had a couple of BAR’s over the years, nice rifles. They carry well, and are reliable. Classics IMO.

I have that very model in .30-06. Works great, looks great, handles extremely well. $800 is reasonable without the scope. Wish I used mine more.

I have a lightweight in .308 that will shoot moa all day long. I love it; but my son has laid claim to it. Great gun, never had any issues. Excellent rifle.
