Today I was told Jesus was born on 14 Nison, I think that is the date.
15th day of Tishri [7th Jewish month] mean anything to you?
15 months after the Angel Gabriel appeared and six months after Johns time of birth (15th day of Nisan / 1st Jewish month) The 15th day of the 7th month begins the Feast of Tabernacles (Lev. 23:34-35), also known as Sukkot.
thus some propose Jesus was born on the 1st day of the Feast of Tabernacles! In the year 5 BCE, falling in the month of September.

I have heard it said that the "manger" was actually a sukkot or "tabernacle"......not a stable for animals. Would make sense and fit in with other scenarios.
I can almost without doubt say that the Jewish Messiah is not going to make his entrance into the world on Baal's birthday aka December 25th.

The early Catholics believed that the angel announced Jesus' birth to Mary at the spring equinox, about March 21. From that, they deduced that he was born at about the winter solstice. That happened to be a major Roman celebration so they latched on to the date. IIRC, this started in the early 3d century. Of course the Bible says nothing about the annunciation being in March.
14 Nissan is the start of Passover week.

Nobody knows the date, it's all conjecture. What does it matter anyway? IMHO the dead of winter is a great time to celebrate an event that in the tradition brings hope to all mankind.

The left, democrats, liberals, communist, socialist, hollywood, snowflakes, the media, and islamites are mostly blind and want to destroy anything and everything in America. They repeat lies so much they actual begin to believe the lies.

What year? Scholars have been debating for centuries what year Jesus was born. John was born 6 months earlier but we have idea exactly what year that was.

If you really want a religion that parties down, consider Zoroastrianism. 15 feast days throughout the year, plus half a dozen major seasonal festivals, plus a bunch of other holidays that can last for days at a stretch.
Added to this busy schedule is the utter chaos and confusion that is the Zoroastrian calendar, to the point that each town basically celebrates these holidays on its own schedule. With a little bit of traveling, a Zoroastrian could probably party down for 75% of the year.
My theory is that the Iranian mullahs are such stiff-necked pricks because the native religion of the Persians called for a lot of feasting and celebrating. Got to keep the locals in line.
The article is talking about Zacharias, John the Baptist father learning of John’s conception. They’re fingering June plus 9 months, puts Johns birth in March, and six months later for Jesus puts his birth sometime around mid September. The year isn’t addressed, but as I said, nearly all the scholars and astronomers agree that the nativity star which guided the Magi, appeared in the sky in 4 or 5 BC. Nighthawk, I never thought much about it, but you made a really good point about celebrating the assurance of eternal life in the dead of winter. Hope you don’t mind if I borrow that! 7mm

I grew up with Zoroastrians , one problem with them , they are too nice . no gambling , drugs , fighting , etc.. what kind of life is that ?
Weren't the wise men of the east thought to be Zoroastrian? There must have been some connection between them and Judaism. Imagine getting on horses or camels and travelling 2 years to pay homage to a baby. They knew what was up and who they were going to see. And there was no earthly way to send information other than to physically carry it overland. Some how they got the word and mounted up for a very treacherous journey.
Patriotism (and religion) is the last refuge of a scoundrel.

How do scholars know when the star appeared when they have no idea what it was? Most of their theories conflict with the Bible. Read the account carefully. They were in the east, traveling west with the star ahead of them. When in Jerusalem, it was over Bethlehem, south of them. It moved. Then when they reached Bethlehem, it was so low in the sky that it allowed them to identify the specific house Jesus was in. It was just above the rooftops. Whatever it was, it wasn't a comet, star, asteroid, or any astronomical object.
