You guys and your weight. I’d rather have a 8.5lb nail driver than a eye sore!

Accuracy trumps all, naturally.

This rifle shot sub MOA with the factory Tupperware.

Properly bedded into an Edge it should do better.

Win Win.

That going to be your sheep rifle?

An 8lb 300 RUM? No thanks, mine was enough of a handful at 9lbs.

I haven't settled on a rifle Rev.

Going to practice out to 400.

Whichever rifle I shoot the best wins.

Even if its the RUM, or my .338 Win.

I got mine over the weekend as well. Haven't had a chance to break open the box yet, but will once I get home tonight. Your 300 sounds pretty danged portable. I am looking forward to hearing how you like it. Mine's going on my 7 WSM, so I am looking forward to the weight savings myself!

Gosh darn! I was thinking of just bedding the lug myself and seeing how it does. Most of the 70's have been good like that. If it needs full bedding I'll send it off to Kevin Weaver.

I weighed mine last night and it was 1lb 12.9 ounces on my scale. It was a bit heavier than I was expecting if your's was 27 ounces.

Difference in barrel channel?

Or LOP, recoil pad?

Hadn't thought of Kevin, may give him a shout.

My smith also generally beds just the recoil lug.

Could be. It's a standard profile channel along with a 14" LOP with a Pachmayr pad. I'll check it on a different scale tonight. I was thinking it'd be around 26-28 ounces. Not a deal breaker, just thought it'd be a touch lighter.

I have thought the same about several edge stocks I have purchased from McMillan recently. Quite a few in the 28-29 oz range. It does seem they have undergone a little weight gain in their older age. grin Perhaps they are more “robust “ now. (Grins)

I'm curious as to how the weight of these compare to the older one's you already have. MPI offers a lightweight option that runs anywhere between 16 and 20 ounces, according to their website. The Dakota style would be similar to the very open wrist on the Bridges stock.

I hear you, same here! The stock does feel real nice, as soon a I get some time I will fit it up on the 7 WSM and see how it really feels.

They used to be around 20-24 ounces Mike. I am not sure what has changed, but I know a few of the rifle builders have some fits over this ever changing weight of the stocks.

Thanks. Half a pound or so is a pretty significant gain. I can imagine that would be giving a builder fits.

It does make a build harder to plan out, if weight is something you are trying to mind. I typically weigh most of my parts and pieces before sending them off so I have an idea of what I will get back or if I need some extra machine work done. John brought up a good point of maybe trying to get into a Brown Pound'R just to get what you're paying for. I think this Bridges cost around 700 or so and I'd bet it'd be darned near a 1000 with bedding done by a good smith. A Pound'R was right at that last I checked and they are going to "make weight"... I continue to learn every danged day that I don't know near as much as I would think I should! grin

Checking my notes here are a few weights of the McMillan Bridges stocks in Edge fill I've owned.

25.2oz (.30-06)
27.6oz (.308)
24.2 oz (wsm)
24.6 oz (7mm Rem Mag)
27oz (7mm Dakota)
27oz (.300 RUM)

All without bedding, with recoil pads. Interestingly the short action .308 is the heaviest and the 7mm Rem among the lightest.

Beretzs brings up a good point with the Pound'r.

I need to get my hands on one to feel how it compares to the Bridges.
