well tested all 5 Tikka T1X today in my indoor range, 4 of the T1X's I mounted Leupold VX Freedom 3x9 rimfire in Weaver rings and on mine I mounted a Vortex Strikeagle 4x24x50 30mm scope in Millet Angle loc 30mm rings. Just using CCI Mini Mag 36gr hp for sight in to get these ready to wrap for xmas presents. These rifles flat out shoot, range was 50 yards and after zeroing and using a fresh target for groups the worst group out of all 5 rifles was 3/8" some clustered them in 1/4". Going to try some better ammo out of mine but I'm probably going to stick with the CCI Mini Mags

I would be glad to post pics for you.

And by "typical," I was not casting dispersions about your honesty but it seems every time somebody on the net makes claims about extremely small group sizes, damn few pics are shown. And when they are posted they are usually "wallet gruops" that the gun did only once in a blue moon

3/8 " Five shot grouos at 50 yards with any HV load would be good results out of a 10lb match rifle.

I'd like to see that out of a 6.5lb bone stock sporter.

I'm not the OP, but I just recently purchased a T1X and will share some photos. I took it out on Saturday for the first time and it took 3 shots to get zeroed... the next 5 went into this group:

[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

Tried some different ammo and shot this group (10 rounds here)

[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

These were shot at 50 yards, with a 6x SWFA scope. A higher magnification would likely yield better results, but that's not my purpose with this rifle. The Tikka T1X is legit & I'd bet gemby's photos would look similar (probably better) grin

ELKiller did you adjust your trigger, with a little work got mine down to 6oz left the five other that are presents alone. these 22's are the real deal. I have a sako p94 with a lilja barrel, mcmillam stock. jewell trigger itI wears a Leupold 6.5x20 EFR and you can watch the bullets go into the same hole at 50 yards, the tikka t1x i think will keep up with it from what I seen so far.

Just another boring Tikka...

I'm going to buy one in spite of the fact they are not offered in a LH model.

I adjusted the trigger to match my other Tikkas. They’re primary purpose is hunting, so I’ve kept them all at 2.5 lbs.

Thanks for the info. Based on the reports I have seen and heard ,the .22lr Tikkas really seem to love CCI ammo.

This is a 10-shot group I shot at 50 yds with my T1x and CCI Mini Mag hollowpoint ammo. It shoots high velocity ammo better than any of my other rifles. Standard velocity ammo does even better.

Tikka site lists 16” and 20” barrels. What length barrels are those groups from? Thinking I’d like the handier 16” but wouldn’t want to sacrifice accuracy.

Thanks

My rifle is the 20” version, but I doubt that you’d see much (if any) reduction in accuracy with the 16” version.

In tikkas infinite wisdom, they did not export any 16” barrel T1X rifles to the states. Only 20s.

No clue when or if we will ever see them.

My experience too, but after seeing ElkKillers groups I'm in for one.

If it shoots like yours it won't be my last.

Mini Mag's never seemed that consistent to me...

got over 500 rounds out of the tikka t1x, and now it was time to get serious to see what she would do. slapped on a leupold 36x target and shot some bug hole groups with CCI standard and some old supply of federal ultra match with the federal ultra match being the best

Since accuracy is dependent not just on a good barrel but also the chamber.

gemby,

Asking you since you just went through 5 rifles...

Have you been able to tell if the chamber is tight, ie. unable to extract chambered rounds or extracted rounds engraved with rifling, or ?

Thanks,

Jerry

Jerry, no engraving with rifling with CCI Standard or Federal Ultra Match, the bolt works smooth and closes on loaded round with no resistance. 4 of the rifle I didn't play with only mounted a scope, sighted them in, shot a 5 shot group to lay in the box and then packed them up to wrap for xmas. Mine I shoot every day to see if POI changes and if I develope the first shot flier, so far so good. Did try some Federal Auto Match in it, don't shoot the best groups but 10 shot cover with a dime is a norm. Greg

I have one. I put a Leupold 4.5-14 on it, and it shoots tiny groups. I have not tried CCI SV yet, so my best results so far are with CCI Blazer ammo. Unfortunately, RN 22 ammo isn’t that effective on yard varmints, so I switched to the HP ammo I had on hand, which was Remington Golden, which shoots real well. Worst ammo I tried was Remington Thunderbolt.

I’ve never had a 22 as accurate as the T1X. My 9422 and 39A can’t equal the Tikka.

Who's got the best prices on these?

They are all priced pretty much the same on gunbroker.

I'm going to swing through town tomorrow and see if any local dealers actually have one.

Thanks,

So for sheer practicality, which one do you buy: the .17HMR or the .22LR? I have other .22s, but no .17.

The barrels are a slip-fit and are held in place by screws but an entirely different setup than the 455's which use a "grub" screw set-up. So yes, they can be changed just not as conveniently as the 455's. My question would be why would someone want to change one, the way they perform it would be an exercise in futility.

I think that rimfirecentral.com has pictures of the Tikka barrel attaching method, look under the Sako/Tikka.

gemby,

I checked their website and they had them listed at $468. Don’t have my FFL anymore but got a good friend that is on the hunt for a great deal, so most wholesalers are out at the moment. Should have jumped on them when they first came out, believe they were listening just below $400.

A guy over on rimfirecentral (from SW Montana) asked if $399.99 was a good price for one.

I PM'd him for the vendor's name, as I would get one after him...

"It was on sale till end of year at Murdochs"

Got my answer on Jan. 1st. Oh well....

Don't bother... I already checked their website,

I was in the Salmon, Idaho Murdochs on the 9th and they were still selling them for $399.99. I have no idea if they will ship or only sell in-store but if a person wanted one it might be worth a phone call.

I'd like to see how accurate these T1X really are before I buy one. Let's see some 5 shot prove it targets and with distance.

Big stone, go back to the start of this chat and see the target photos. The Tikka is the most accurate non- target rifle I have ever owned. I once had a Remington 513T, customized and with a 26” bull barrel, and it was amazing. The Tikka might be that accurate or at least very close. Before I bought the T1X I had heard how well it shot, and it really is that good.

Or there would be one on the way here...

5 five-shot groups at 50 yards. The dark lines are one-inch apart the smaller light colored lines are 1/4 inch apart.

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

Counting 1 thru 4 from the left side - groups 1 and 2 are five- shot groups / groups 3 and 4 are ten shot groups, all at 50 yards. Not to bad for an off the shelf sub-$500 rifle.

Drover-
Nice! Were those five 5-shot groups with different ammo or the same brand/load? And what was the ammo? Thanks.

CCI std velocity for all of those pictured. Somewhere I have a target shot with the SK Magazine if I can find it I will post some pictures of them - they are not all that much smaller but just "rounder".

223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.

Tried some different ammo and shot this group (10 rounds here)

These were shot at 50 yards, with a 6x SWFA scope. A higher magnification would likely yield better results, but that's not my purpose with this rifle. The Tikka T1X is legit & I'd bet gemby's photos would look similar (probably better) grin

What mounts did you use?

I just scored a T1x off gunbroker for $440, so I am hoping it shoots as well as all of these posted targets.

Sorry for the late response, 16bore... I used a DIP rail with cheap Vortex Hunter rings.

1/4" and 3/8" groups at 50 yards with a sub 500 dollar rifle ? and with hunting ammo ? . I can tell you I had a T1X that had the worst chamber I ever seen in a rimfire and accuracy was in the crapper to, maybe I got the only bad one out there, the T1X is just like any other rifles in its price range, mass produced, some are probably good and some not so much. Theres a guy on another forum that posts multiple groups fired on one target, with match ammo and the groups are pretty good for what the rifle is.
