After reading the complaints in the link, I'm not sure how upset we should be about this. Seems like its kind of funny, really. Yeah! Like mebbe they did us a favor!

Those are "Omaha Steaks." Terrible meat. I was on a pipeline job up in Omaha back in 2007. I saw a steak house that advertised "World Famous Omaha Steaks," and decided I would give it a try for dinner. Well I rolled in there after work and ordered a large "Rib Eye" steak, medium rare, with all the fixin's. I had to spit out my first bite it was so foul tasting. I left the entire steak laying on my plate and the waitress noticed it. I ate the baked potato and salad, and the little waitress asked me if I wanted to take the steak home with me. I told her I had to be honest, because that was the worst steak I had ever tasted in my life, and that I am a steak lover. She wanted to call over the manager and give me my money back, but I insisted paying for it, and leaving her a tip, because it wasn't her fault, and I wasn't a scheister just trying to scam them for a free meal. Since then, I have had door to door salesmen stop by, pulling their little "Omaha Steak" trailers, and have told them I would pass. That's what is going on here. I am amazed by your evaluation of Omaha Steaks (insert sarcasm emoji here). Worst stuff I have ever had. I did some conveyor and PLC work for them for a couple weeks. Got a box from them Gratis at the end of the job, couldn’t eat them at free. Ethan, there are very large packing houses in and around Omaha, Nebraska plus a few folks that do custom meat from the farm. So it’s possible the meat really did come from said destination, but even if it’s Omaha Steaks which are mostly skank it would still be from Omaha Nebraska, so not lying.

Pisses me off, too. The list of things people on welfare should be able to get is way the hell shorter than the list of things that they shouldn't be able to get. Welfare should let a person survive for a short period while they get back on their feet.

At least they are getting something to eat on their card. There is a local grocery store that will let anything and everything go through on the EBT card. That includes beer and cigs.
If you know this to be true, what have you done about it? Seems to me even in a broken/corrupt government someone would care.

That will all be traded for a couple cartons of Newports and a 12 pack of Colt 45 malt liquor by 6pm. Supposedly that was bought by a man using his girlfriends food stamps and was later busted (likely only because the receipt got posted and spread on the WWW.) for reselling all of it for .50 cents on the dollar.

I'd think steaks from a roadside truck are probably punishment enough.
There's a local outfit here that goes door to door selling meat "packages". Last one rang the bell and when I came to the door says, "Do you like to eat good?". I told him I never buy stuff from salesmen that come to my house, and he acted like I'd slapped him.
No doubt this stuff is commercial grade at best, and I wonder what the price per pound is. At any rate, at least its food, not lottery tickets or snuff. Not sure how to limit what folks buy beyond requiring it to be food, unless you set up distribution centers to hand out cheese and hot dogs, which likely isn't cost-effective and also has potential for abuse.
Lots of people are falling off the welfare roles since Trump got in. If that continues, it'll be easier to reform the programs, but reducing participation certainly saves money.
