Went bear hunting today and had high hopes with all the tracks we saw yesterday but we missed the denning up by a day. The first permanent snow of the year here and you can predict their movements, but I was thinking Christmas tree when I should have been watching the weather in the high country. Did cross one set of huge bear tracks that were about 12-24 hours old. I think they were the largest I've yet seen here. Lost his track in a melted out road but man o man was it a toad.

If one takes a quick look at Oregon, it's not hard to imagine a bear with a mindset could cross into NE Oregon and end up over by Mt Theisen and then trek down to Lassen...
Grandpa said there was damned good reason to wipe out wolves and grizzlies in Oregon and I ain't about to second guess him now.
Oh, early 90s there were plenty of wolf sightings in the central OR Cascades and surrounding countryt, S ond SE of Bend.. It was claimed they were hybrids released by wacko wolf lovers... Something like that.
I was told a guy around here had seen a white van letting out dog like animals. When the people doing it saw him they jumped in the van and took off. We did have a large pack show up from what seemed like out of no where, but they seemed to have disappeared since then.
