Don't bother putting you boots on. The sight is for a Springfield. Yeppers. Stroebel's Old Gunsights has lists of Redfield models, "S" is for Springfield 1903, M1, M2 and Newton.

Yes, it definitely is the economy model. No clicks or knobs. Just loosen screws and move til you think it's where you want it. I do wish my eyes would let me use irons for hunting.
I guess the mystery of the added letter 'O' will remain a mystery. It certainly appears to have been made at the same time as the 'S'.
