I have a 350L. Ruger American that is 'ok'. Was looking for a nice option than what is currently offered in a factory rifle. Is there any reason a 223 Tikka could not be re-barreled to 350 Legend? The magazine is single stack and feeds straight ahead into the chamber; bolt face would be the same. Thoughts?

The sides of the cartridge are slightly different than the 223 but a tiny touch with a file would fix that easily.

I built a 357 Rimless (.223 basic brass cut to 1.79” .358 Bullet instead of the Legend.355.) on a Remington 700. I used a Wyatts box to accommodate the extra length of the rimless. If you stay with the Legend any .223 length mag system should feed with a little if any work. I think it will work.
I’m getting 2600 FPS with a 180 Hornady SSP out of a 24” barrel. 35 gr of AA1680 in the rimless.

Are you still able to find the Hornady 180 SSP bullets?
djb, I've been thinking of this same conversion. The billet magazines from Mountain Tactical (Tikka Performance) give me 2.6" for my 223 loads.

I have enough SSP’s I see them once in a while available. I built the same 357 Rimless in an Encore too. I shot a big doe quartering towards me at 75 yards. In next to the brisket, exited the far shoulder shattering the shoulder bone. 15 yard nose diving run to a summersault done, never wiggled a ear. Best part was watched everything through the scope.
And a I have 357 Max Encore for my daughter. She uses the 180 Speers HCFP. My son shot a buck with the Max this year. The buck was facing away from him and feeding at 85 yards. The bullet Entered about 5-6” behind the ribs and exited the center of the spine. I could shove my thumb in the exit hole. Figured it penetrated at least 30” of deer. DRT!!! The Max is running 2325 FPS with the 180 Speers.
We have yet to find a 180 Speers from the Maximum. First deer I shot with the SSP and bullet passed through as well.

Yes the Speers 180 hcfn are .358. They sure seem to be a tough reliable bullet. They really make the Maximum shine. I plan to play with them and the Barnes 180 gr TTSX in the rimless as well as .358 150 gr CoreLokts I have for my other daughters 357 mag.
I really like the .358 bullets in straight wall rounds.
