The segmented, would that possible 'contaminate' meat on game? I usually go for head shots, but it doesn't always happen. They do seem quite deadly from reports I have read.
You may be thinking "frangible"? The segmented bullets break into 3 or 4 (I forget which) large pieces the length of the bullet; it's not a bunch of tiny fragments going everywhere.

When i carry 22lr in Ruger 5.5 single six, my go to load is, Win Power point ammo, with the Hanned line LBT flat point filed on it. It is a little sledge hammer out of that gun. at only 900 to 1000fps. But when hunting G-hogs, I use the SS 22 mag cyclinder, CCI 40gr. Hp's at 1350 fps.(chrono'ed) That makes for a larger, little sledge hammer.

Hardballer, sounds like you eat Jackrabbits Yondering, thanks for the info, that is good to know. And on the WMR, yes, that kicks things up a notch definitely, now ear plugs almost a must, though I use some form even with all 22 LRs.

When I was a kid we would cut a cross in a regular HP or SP, and it seemed to 'pop' noticeably more on ground squirrels. We used to do something similar with a Phillip's screw driver. Bb

now ear plugs almost a must, though I use some form even with all 22 LRs. Ya need a muffler on that thing. My Buckmark (barrel cut to 4" and threaded) with a Gemtech Outback and the CCI Subsonic HP or Segmented Subsonic HP sound like disconnecting an air hose. No bang or crack at all. FWIW the Ruger Mk I/II/III etc action is quieter when you get into that stuff, but either one is a lot better than the mini 22 pistols like the P22 and SR22, etc.

No doubt, I trust the accuracy of the Ruger (MKII tough to beat). and the BKM, Yes, the cans make them quiet as a mouse...almost! Lol.
Some day I may try that, no doubt I imagine that gets one spoiled....what blast? I know they can be quieter than an airgun.

Take a razor blade & X any quality 22LR RN projectile for awesome results.
Off center X's will not affect accuracy or feeding in most semi auto pistols.

Interesting, so you have had them expand from short handguns? Water jugs? Thanks.
