I'm a lefty and have a few LH Savage projects going, in addition to a Model 14 Classic in 250. Last month I ran into a flat back blind mag 300 Savage that was one of the limited release back in the late 1980s. It's the Camillus Knife combo with Chief Lame Deer laser etched in the buttstock. No knife, no case, no box, but the rifle does appear to be unfired. Just a couple small safe/handling marks that I can find. According to info I Googled up from this site and one other, there was only 499 or 500 made and they might have been the first factory chambering in 300 Savage in the 110 platform. I had to snag it.

I have one of the folding knives in its box here somewhere. Now if someone has the box and paper work ...

After I found this one, a friend told me he'd recently seen a used one in a shop about a half hour from me. Until I saw this one and researched it, I didn't know anything about them. I might have to go over and see about that other one. I'm in PA and most of the ones I have found originated in PA.

Found some info on the GunValueBoard:

"This weapon is still in it's original shipping box. In the box is a rifle Single Hardcase marked Doskocil Mfg Co Inc.
Inside the hard case is a Savage Model 110 in 300cal. Savage. On the right side of the stock is Engraved with Chief Lame Deer and also a Camillus Engraved Savage Logo folding knife incased in it's Original Box. Serial number on this Rifle is. H 000357. "

"Joel from Savage Arms researched the Serial # H000357 for me and informed me......
I have 1 of 499 made Commerative Rifles of the 300savage cal. Made in 1989. It is a Collectors Piece in the Original Box with Documents and Knife Enclosed eat. Worth 1K $$$"

Yeah I found that and a post here on the fire. It was from a few years ago. Mine is SN H000008. I’m not sure how accurate the date is there. A guy here in PA said he has one unfired that he bought at a shop in PA in the mid 80s. Either way I think it’s safe to say sometime mid to later 80s. The SN is no help because I think the general SNs started with F then. Why this run starts with H is anyone’s guess.

Yes, I noticed that H serial range. The H's didn't start till end of 2009 so must have been a spacial bock of numbers used, maybe H000001- H000499?

Boy:

That is a new one on me. Never seen that model before. Still learning I guess.

I'm a fan of anything 300 Savage though.

I'm still deciding what to do with it. I'm not really a collector but I knew enough to grab this up when I saw it. I feel like it's made it this far, I don't want to be the one to shoot it now because there's a finite amount of them out there in this condition. I might put it up for adoption at some point to a good home. Still haven't decided, but I'd still have some LH projects in limbo that I could fund by moving it. I'll worry about it next year!!!

3d,

It’s a piece of Savage history for sure. Some collector will definitely want it when you decide to sell.

Congratulations

Next year? That's less than a week!

I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

I had one of them awhile back, SN H000258.

It was advertised in the SHOTGUN NEWS or GUNLIST in 1988 or 1989 and I bought it from a dealer in PA by the name of Ray Nemeth. I never shot it and sold it sometime in the 1990's.

Back in the in 2000s I walked into a local gun shop and they had three Savage 110s on the rack brand new. One was a plain jane in 250-3000 and the other two were 110WLE in 250-3000 and the other was in 7x57MM or 300 Savage I dont remember. I bought the 110WLE in 250 and it had the prettiest stock I have ever seen on a 110. That is until I saw a Savage 14 Classic a few years ago. Savage advertised the 110 in 300 Savage in the 1990s in the 110 wood/blue and stainless synthetic in both LH and RH models. I have also heard that Savage offered the 110 in 250 and 300 in the very beginning of the 110 production in the late 50s/early 60s but I have never encountered one.

That makes another PA outlet. The other guy said that he was from Newville PA and 4 he knew of came from a new defunct shop there. I guess it's possible they were made for a particular rep or something in PA. I haven't found any that originated outside of PA but I do forget where the GVB rifle was from. That might explain why info seems so thin on them.

If Savage made any 110s in 250-3000 and/or 300 Savage prior to the 110 WLEs were introduced in ????, they didn't bother to catalog them.

The 110 WLEs were made in 250-3000, 300 Savage, and 7x57. I've owned 2 in 250-3000 and 1 in 300 Savage that had serial numbers in the range between F1367xx thru F1375xx.

I think the general consensus is that this run I have was non catalogued. I understand that was not uncommon for Savage in the 80s to make special runs like that.
