The year 2020 also marks the centennial year of the first Savage bolt action centerfire rifle - the lissome little Model 1920 in 250-3000 and 300 Savage. I would love to see some great pics of your rifles to celebrate these 100 year old beauties. This the oldest one I owned - 103X Show em off if you got em! Cheers!

Bert,
I'd love to show you mine, but I have not stumbled on it yet. Still want one. It will be my first 250-3000.
Doug
Had to lookup "lissome".

Lissome, lithesome, svelte... slender. A lot of my shotguns and rifles are long and lean, like the 26" barrelled 1895s and the early 1899s. I like that look in a shotgun too - slender. The Model 1920 moves my eye in the same way, even with a 22" barrel. My remaining 250-3000:

I like the engraving. It looks too bold or deep to be Enoc Tue's. Looks like the engraving I've seen on some German rifles that were engraved by Germans.
wyo1895 With Savage never say never. For a copy of my book on engraved Savage lever actions rifles send a check for $80 to; David Royal, p.o. box 1271, Pinedale, Wy., 82941. I will sign and inscribe the book for you. [email protected]

Ya, there is nothing factory about the engraving on the rifle, or the bolt handle .

That style of Teutonic engraving with the inlays and embellishments [restocking, ebony grip cap, fore end, white line spacers, etc.] reminds me of some of the customizing seen in the late 50s - early 60s and makes me wonder if the rifle visited Europe.

Bert, I have no idea who engraved it, but its pretty deeply done. The rifle belonged to a friend for many years he died around 6 years ago, a lot of his guns were consigned to a local gunshop by his daughter.I bought a few thru the shop, also a engraved 1895 Winchester in 405 with similar style engraving. This makes me think it could have been done somewhere in N.H. Don

You'd make a lousy stripper - you're supposed to show a little ankle before you take all your clothes off! Love the metal work on that one.

Some awfully nice rifles here on display. I don't think I've ever seen one except in old magazines. Next gunshow I'll pay more attention.

Seen a really nice one in 250 about 8-10 months ago. Guy wanted $1500.

That's what I paid for my last one In White River Junction Vt. and was overly happy to get it.

I haven't run into any in local gunshops for years, with only a little over 13,000 made there not on every corner. I also believe the 300's are going to bring more ,since the 250's are more commonly found. Don
