Just got home from a full day at the hospital. I stayed until my sister was able to get there at 6:00pm. We have to be back at 6:00am to make sure we're there before they take her in for surgery.
It was a full day of blood draws, EKG's, vital checks, IV's, Clergy and prayers etc, etc.
The thing I worry about the the most is that 8 hour surgery. That is a long, long time for her to be going through that. We are praying for strength.

If you need a second opinion this is the place to go. The University of Michigan is a Comprehensive Cancer Center. They can provide world class care for any condition. I'm way too involved with this institution now. Her surgery is starting early tomorrow morning. Our family talked about having her referred to Mayo Clinic for a 2nd opinion but we also worried that the delay for surgery would allow it to spread if we did that. Roger Marris Cancer Center is very good but it would have been nice to have the time to get a 2nd opinion. For peace of mind, anyway. Most of the time the doctors are bound to a standard of care doctrine. The difference starts after the surgery with the oncologist. The big hospitals will have a neuro-oncologist leading the program and a tumor board. There are many options for radiation treatment. The oncologist makes the difference.

Prayers on the way for your Mom, her Surgeons, Doctors, Nurses, and Technicians, and all the caregivers that will be with your Mom on this journey.

Rooster.....I offer up my prayers for both your Aunt and mom. Having just gone through a very difficult cancer battle with my mother in law I feel for you and your family. Cancer sucks big time I'm so sorry to hear about that. I pray you are all doing OK. Yes, it does SUCK! PHUGCK cancer!

My Mom had cancer in her jaw a few years ago, they had to cut out the bone and put one from her arm in there. She's doing good and the whole experience brought her to the Lord.
I know where your coming from and prayers are already being said on my end.

LONG day in a hospital waiting room. We got there at 6 am and they came to get Mom around 7. Between 2:30 and 3:00 the doc came and saw us and said everything went good and she could be brought to ICU in an hour. We went up to see her once she got there and she was just barely coming to. We let her hear our voices and words of encouragement and left so she could rest.
Man, it is tough seeing one of your parents in that condition. Head swelled up like basketball, stitches from ear to ear on her neck etc. but we are through the big part. Now we just pray for quick healing and no infection.
I told Mom how many people she had praying for her from all over the country and she was amazed by that and so very thankful.
