My inclination is that it wasnt even touched. The ratchet isnt engaging because the transfer bar sets too far back because the hammer face is too long. Had a brand new Anaconda that did the same thing. Of course I've never seen the "new" Python action, but I would bet the hammer is a version of the MKIII/ V and not the old "Positive Lock".
