Meredith probably know OJ was a POS even way back then.

Meredith seemed to have a good time, people like that are fun to be around, even if it's on TV.

He was a pretty good actor on “Police Story” too.

On a Monday Night game once as the camera got a crowd shot, some fella noticed the camera on him and flipped a bird. Without missing a beat Meredith said "Howard I think he means we are number one".

Don Meredith, Bullet Bob Hayes, Randy White, Don Perkins, Walt Garrison are some I remember watching when I was stationed at Perrin AFB, Sherman, Texas. Did Jethro Pugh play at that same time, can't remember.

Man, you're showing your age. Perrin Field closed in 1971. My Dad helped reopen it in 1948. We lived a little while in both Sherman and Denison.

Used to eat Mexican food at Old Mesilla, just south of Las Cruces. Bob Lilly was sitting at the next table over enjoying his own dinner. I left him alone and let him eat. I'm pretty sure he saw the look of recognition on my face, but appreciated being left to eat in peace.

Besides, I didn't want to piss him off.

I was stationed at Perrin Field from 1966-70, worked part time at the Gibson's Discount Center in Sherman. One day Tom Landry came in & bought some fishing tackle, he was headed out to Lake Texoma.

My father was in the same fraternity with Don at SMU. He siad Dandy Don was quite the ladies man. I played football with Don's nephew for awhile in high school. We used to see Tom Landry at church every Sunday at Highland Park United Methodist Church. I sat behind him several times as a kid. After I married, my wife and I were in church and we just happened to be sitting behind Tom. When I told her who was sitting in front of us she scoffed. When the service was over, Tom stood up, put his hat on and turned around. I thought my wife was gonna pee herself when Tom said, "Good morning."

Hahaha. Too funny, Dub. Great story.

On Monday night Howard spoke of a player from a small West Texas town. He asked Dandy Don just where in Texas was that town. Dandy said, “ well Howard it’s out past Wink.” Funny and quick witted.
