Not "stopping," rather "putting on hold."

That stopped after the first 500 rifles, which was almost 2 years ago. Neither of mine came with a coupon.

That is too bad, they did a lot of things right with the Fieldcraft.

Barrett won a $50M DOD contract for the newly designed MRAD (Multi-role adaptive design) rifle in the 300PRC caliber. Plus adaptation to the 300 Norma Mag, 338 Norma Mag and the 7.62 NATO. A ten year contract, 5,000 rifles and 4,000,000 rounds.
This is the same Barrett company whose founder won the contract in '92 for the 50 BMG sniper rifle - so they have a high skill level.
Kudos to them and American engineering - when they decide to "get it right".

I hope they bring it back soon. I had been thinking of finally getting one later this year after a few other things are paid for.

I feel that for the money (especially when Whittaker’s had the deals) they were one of the best values going for a mountain rifle. Who knows when, or even if, they will resume production. Definitely sad to see but completely understandable from a business perspective.

There are still a bunch of nos out there for sale, but the less expensive listings sure seem to have dried up. If you aren’t able to grab one before those in the system are sold, I don’t think that they will be all that hard to find in the used market (they sold a bunch since their introduction!) - but it might take a while to find some of the less common chamberings - e.g. the 7/08 or 6.5 sweed.

I may end up trying to find a NOS .270 in the near future. Earlier than planned, but I may kick myself later if I don’t get one.
