Anyone have one? Is the accuracy any good out of these? Thoughts. Looking at adding a 2nd 30-06 for a backup.

223, 25-06, 270, 7-08 and 7mag all easily shoot under 1”. I should use them more than I do. Nice light carry guns.

I have hunted with Encores since the day they became available in 91, (???) I think. I have a 300 Wby, 7 Wby, 280 Remington & 308 Winchester. All shoot under 1".

I thoroughly enjoy hunting with my single shots. Never felt I was at a loss or want for more. I especially love my 7 Wby. Overall, I have kept my barrel's & frames together. I do not utilize the switch barrel concept.

I like the idea of a 28” barrel in the 30-06. Should keep the velocity up a tad compared to a lot of the standard 22” barreled 06s that are out there ... I’d think it would be a bit noticeable difference. The weight of the rifle isn’t bad either for a 28” barreled rifle. I also like the fact it’s all stainless. The single shot doesn’t scare me a bit. I could probably reload it dang near as quick as cycling a bolt but biggest downfall is not being able to stay on target. Only other long barreled rifle I’ve been considering that’s chambered in 30-06 is the Rem 700 Long Range but it’s about a pound heavier with a 26” barrel and it has matte blued barrel and action. Both are about same price so the all stainless T/C just seems like the better buy to me. Not sure.

I had one in the 26 inch 30-06 barrel and it was a good shooter. I've never had one of the 28 inch ones. It seemed like that would be a little long. I've always liked the balance of the 26 inch barrel models.

Before jumping on one with a 28" barrel, try to find one with a 24" barrel to compare it to. I much prefer the feel of the 24" barrels to the 26 or 28's.
