Wabi, that's the first serious error in judgement from you that I know of. I'm seriously disappointed in you.

It may have been forgivable to have gotten sucked in to FB years back, before we learned what a threat it is. But now? Unimaginable.

Why are some people so scared of Facebook? I don't get it. You can find all sorts of good deals on just about anything, and its local so that's nice. You can join groups where you can learn about pretty much whatever you want from some highly knowledgeable people. Beyond that, you really don't need to do anything on there if you don't want to.

all of that is true.
and, among other things:
i stay in touch with a number of people in europe, pictures, updates and so on.
I just found a high schoold friend from around 1970, last time i knew where he was.
People all over the U.S. that are related to me that i have never met, but found through ancestry and FB.
So many special interest forums, on everything from Garands to you name it.
And quite a few people from here that don't chose to post here anymore.

How many of you FacePlant folks also refuse to use Google or Chrome or Win 10 because they're "invasive"?

FB allows you to create a phony world where only those you allow to interact with you can.
That is except for the advertisement they direct at you by carefully combing through the depths of your personal life first.
They control everything from what you might view to purchase to those you should talk with along with who you should vote for.

The Campfire isn't soft, fluffy and nice all the time like FB may appear to be.
There is good, bad and ugly, sweetness and sorrow, It's down right raw true life here, it's the real thing!

I just want to learn the ropes.

Many moons ago, I joined. Within 72 hours I left. Then I puked. Twice.

I keep hoping The Z would drop by and knock. My only conundrum would be rifle/shotgun/pistol?

I have similar thoughts about many liberals.

You know what they say keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Thing about Facebook you can read the local news articles on political things and figure out who the real s*** heads in your community are. and when she hits the fan you know which door to knock on First and get rid of the problem

Once again, our church, and other places use FaceBook to let us know what is going on, they don't use the website for that.

If Facebook is causing problems in your life, the fault probably lies with you and not the website. It's like going to a huge buffet and complaining that your fat and sick because you can't stop gobbling down all the [bleep] foods while ignoring the healthy stuff. Same goes for tv or anything else. Nobody can force things down your throat if you keep your mouth shut.
