Correct. The factory spring has a 'hump' at the rear end.. Change it out for a standard and the extra round can be added..

Any chance I could get a part number, Redneck?

Also, and I apologize if I am getting close to stealing the thread, but how “available” are Classic Safaris in 416?

The old number is U356420930.. I'm sure if you called Midwest Gun Works they'd have the spring in stock.. Old price was about $5 or so.. I wonder what it is now? laugh laugh

Over the years I had collected a couple of the Classic Safari M70 in .416 Rem... Sold 'em both - last one was about 5-6 years ago.. Helluva rifle, that..

I picked up my South Carolina 375 yesterday and have already ordered a NECG 1.25 inch red pad and a standard magazine spring to see if I can get capacity to 4. Also picked up a late 40s 30-06 from Champlins. Crazy how little recoil even with the steel butt plate shooting 150g Hornady Interlocks.

If the reference is to the one I posted, you're right, it is a big scope.

It would be lighter with a VX-3 1.5-5x20, or similar. We equipped my bud's .416 Rem M-70 with a Trijicon. Nice scope.

BUT, once you see the low light possibilites with the Zeiss Victory 1.5-6x42, you'd see why I like it. Got it used, sorta pricy new retail.

One African hunter commented on what a great Leopard rig that would be. Don't know, just passing along his opinion.
