Correct!

More like a mini chopper. Good for opening boxes, in a knife that size.

It's a fad among the knife community.

I've got a couple, one from Charlie May (CowKiller w/sheeps foot, scandi grind) and one from Ken Honeycutt (Model 11). I use them a lot for the intended purpose and design.

Perfect for travel to England. Also handy for trimming velcro chaps.

My most frequent use of a traditional sheepsfoot blade is a Stockmans pocket knife, I use it for the removal of the foil from a bottle of good wine before I pull the cork.

I like the Sheepfoot profile for picking fruit and vegetables, gardening and mushrooming in the forest.

in summary... it is a great garden knife.

Wow... I've bounced around the world for 35+ years now. More countries than I can recall. The one knife I always had for EDC, self defense, kitchen duty and engineering drawing work is a wharnie... Guess experience varies...

The sheepsfoot and wharncliffe have been useful knife profiles for a very very long time. That straight razor looking blade on folders has become the cool profile of late with a certain segment of the knife community. My son and several of his friends have been buying the ugly azz things and trying to out cool each other with the latest on the market for a year or two now. A fad...

In 42 years of warehouse tenure I have worn a couple of sheepsfoot blades out. It is the desired blade for skinning thick underground high voltage cable & other lesser conductors.

A wharnecliff is great for cutting calves. We cut in a small pen and there are lots of people and nervous stock. You don’t have to worry about sticking someone, if you get run over, kicked from behind or get drawn into someone else’s wrestling match.
