There are two schools of thought on that brand of sarcasm/humor, diametrically opposed to one another.
It is interesting your characterization of the other side as whiners. That's the same thing the left does. It doesn't allow opposing viewpoints any chance at a real hearing.

Well done. Democrat. I'm not exactly a regular up here on the freak show, so I may have missed it but I have never seen anyone up here not allowing opposing viewpoints. Yes, you're ridiculed by some, sometimes going a bit far IMO but that's it. I've never seen anyone not allowed to express their thoughts (other than some hard core racism) or told that they can't express those thoughts. I have however seen several liberals here and in real life consistently resort to the same defense you're displaying here...which is some variation of the "now I can't have an opinion?" defense when they're just told that they're wrong; not that they can't think that way.

I really wanted to share hot dogs with him. I am sorely disappointed. Is that the same as sword fighting? I have a job related trip taking me to the Miami Boat Show. I told him I'd buy him a hot dog and a beer if he wanted to meet me there. He seemed receptive. I was going to PM him to see if he was still up for it, but with his departure I guess that's a scratch.
